Wireless Bridge - house to office

Hi

About 9 years ago, I ran 2 cat 6 cables in kopex conduit between the house and our home office. Unfortunately it's no longer providing a connection between the two. I thought it might be a loose connection at the RJ45s but no joy, I also used a network cable checker and the signal seems the finest bar light number 6 dulls a bit compared to the others but it is still lights up.

The run between the house isn't direct and and is about 90m long and just runs over ground so there's the very odd bit of traffic over the conduit.

I think I might be best writing it off and using something like the following to connect the office to the house, any advice would be gratefully received?

9 years of service with full 1Gbps capability - nothing beats the Ethernet, unless its fiber 😉 . Can you replace the cable?

Not familiar with product you linked, don't feel confident with brand.

I could run it through an old eircom duct that passes within 10m of the office and then run it in some kopex the rest of the way. However I'm not confident of being able to feed it through the duct and I was thinking the cost of the new cat6 and kopex would be more than the bridge.

You have to use the duct grade cable not the basic cat6 that's used indoors

There's ways of getting cables through ducts if its available

Just go into the mainstream electrical wholesalers and theyll give it to you

Never buy reels of cable from any place like Amazon

If you can get the cable in go with that it's always simpler all round

Thanks, we're out in the boonies so I won't be popping anywhere I might get it at a B&M shop for a few weeks and I'd like to get it sorted sooner rather than later as I'm back in the house WFH rather and the home office.

What are this crowd like for cable?

FAIK they good. As long cable is copper, NOT coated aluminum. You will pay the price( and labor ), but it wont be much higher than WiFi solution and will be more reliable

Just also wondering about homeplugs. I use them to connect our solar inverter to the main router.

The connection to the home office is on a different fuse to the house sockets, is there anyway of connecting the house and home office by homeplugs as I've tried current set up and no joy?

Years ago when I was replacing the phone cables with ethernet, I chose black box solid core cat 6.

It was over spec slightly compared to the actual cat6 spec so hopefully more able for 10Gb...

It was a decent price at the time and a known brand to me...
