Europe has, and always has had, plenty of guns.

One of the authoritarians even publicly encouraged the possession of them.

Bailey had a borderline personality" based on "narcissism, psycho-rigidity, violence, impulsiveness, egocentricity with an intolerance to frustration and a great need for recognition".

The poster who thinks Vance could be dumped might be right if Vance carries on like this .I hope he remains the pick but want him to do just enough damage to Trump but not get the heave ho.Vance is definitely a positive for KH .

Trump didn't pick him though, lets be clear about one thing, one of his very wealthy backers did.

Betting odds are getting closer and closer as time passes by. Harris came into the races at 5/2 but now stands at 5/4.

Trump has gone from as short as 2/5 at one stage, to now be 4/7.

Come election week I expect both to be about 10/11. But the point is Harris is trending positively and Trump negatively.

Harris was always going to get a bounce still comes down to those handful of states where she needs to get voters out .Agree with the view that the Trump vote will more or less stay the same it's up to Harris to get the others up and out to vote her way.

I actually believe Trump is uncontrollable in this respect. His backers know that a large majority of the Republican party will listen to him no matter what. Rupert Murdoch and Fox tried in 2022 to tell him his day was done and he didn't lose a wink of sleep over it.

I agree with Leroy42, Vance was picked by Trump because he thought that this was a done deal and Vance would be a completely malleable VP to bend to Trumps will as he might choose. Haley bent the knee, but clearly has no love for him and would immediately have become focused on her chances in 28 or beyond had she been picked.

Harris will need to out-rally Trump and in the right places in order to keep the momentum going. She ought to be appearing at events like this -

Trump currently speaking at that very conference.

She's in the honeymoon period at the moment which is kind of similar to her campaign in 2019 that quickly faded out when she was challenged so I'd assume she'll be well prepared this time around. Trump is his own worse enemy, he can't attack Harris like he done Biden because she's a woman and that won't go down well with the independent voters. I think he'll win if he keeps his focus on the American people and what they want or expect but he won't be able to help himself with children insults

I highly doubt crypto incels would even vote democrat in first place

The question is will these guys boo Trump like the Libertarians did at their convention

Two sides of same coin / buttcheek

    We're 100 days away.

Heres a few important days I can think of:

    Kamala announces VP.

Receiving the official nomination at the Democrat convention.

The debate (if it happens at all).

Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris (I suspect this will be after the debate, if at all)

    Trumps sentencing by Judge Marchan

    Close of voter registrations.

Most important is for her team to keep the pressure on Trump, out-spending him, out-fundraising him and getting more endorsements from the big unions and groups of republicans against Trump (and celebrities on tik-tok/Instagram wont do any harm for her either)

It's 100 days, and it'll be over in a flash. As long as she doesn't make any huge gaffs, she'll be alright.

Doesn't matter. She has to be out there trying to persuade and change minds wherever she can. Writing off groups of possible voters is the exact kind of mindset that was a factor in hillary losing in 2016. And in 2016, while Hillary barely visited the so-called 'blue wall' states, Trump was squeezing in one last 1AM rally in Michigan right before the election. I don't say that a majority of crypto people would vote for Harris, but she absolutely needs allies wherever she can get them and to leave everything 'on the field' as it were.

She'd be as welcome there as Trump would at a pro-choice rally, be honest.

Its funny, I've found myself thinking of this campaign more like we would a TV series. It doesn't make sense, but it's hard to imagine that there will not be more drama before (and after Nov 5th) given what has come before.

Jan 6th, all his charges, his stranglehold on the GOP, Bidens decline, Trumps trials and convictions, the assassination attempt, Biden withdrawing. all things that are pretty much incomparable with any other campaign in most of our life times.

What could still happen? He could try to remove Vance, he could have a health event himself, Harris could stall and deflate, hard to imagine that we'' just roll in to the election without having more WTF moments.

According to this article, her team had considered an invitation to the conference, but appears to have passed on it. If an invitation was indeed extended, I don't think it's quite as stark as Trump appearing at a pro-choice rally. It would be a good signal to younger voters, where crypto is a bigger deal, to come to something like this, and show a softening in the Democratic party stance towards crypto currencies.

She needs every vote. No complacency.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,781 ✭✭✭Flaneur OBrien

We'll agree to disagree. She has got a lot of steam going under her at the moment, and a video of her (potentially) being booed by a bunch of tech bro's wouldn't be a great sight right now.

I would say there'll be absolutely no risky decisions made until after the convention, then she'll probably pass events like this over to her VP anyway 😂

I've been very impressed with how her team has been handling this campaign in the few days it's been running.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,715 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

Harris seems much more youthful and vibrant than Hilary Clinton in 2016. Clinton came across as a bit of a stuffy and stern oul' one in comparison.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,628 ✭✭✭✭briany

Harris is in the honeymoon period of her candidacy right now and while I certainly hope she can keep that buzz going, this doesn't simply happen on its own.

While it's possible some people at the conference may boo her and the Trump campaign could use that footage, there are also bad optics and attacks to be made from only doing rallies in front of friendly audiences. There is credibility to be taken from walking into some potentially more challenging situations.

But, yes, I can certainly agree to disagree on the point, and if my concerns about not attending such events turn out to be over-stated, then I definitely won't be unhappy to be wrong.

I still don't really get the choice. Could he not have found someone like this who also at least gave the impression of being a true believer in the Trump cult?

Vance really hasn't any moral compass. He was given an opportunity to be VP candidate by someone he clearly doesn't like. He's running for a presidential candidate that's pandering to the biggest racists in America, yet Vances wife is of Indian background and has been attacked online by some of these racist groups that support Trump.

Does this spineless fool end up standing by his wife or does ambition get the better of him and he picks the VP role over her.

He'll be back to shagging the couch before he knows it.

The Boy will pick the VP role (unless it unpicks him).

The Boy should remain perversely thankful that his wife has only been demeaned by a certain portion of the party base and hasn't yet had to suffer the ignominy of having his spouse insulted by Trump himself, like with Ted Cruz and Nikki Haley, and had to stand there and take that shitt in order to cling on to political relevance.

    Although there is still time.
