Well they were always a right of centre party but there's a growing socialist element in the party now.

    https://news.sky.com/story/bodycam-video-shows-sonya-masseys-final-moments-before-she-was-shot-in-head-by-police-in-illinois-13183633

She called the cops because she thought there was a prowler outside. Something, i really don't know what caused the situation to escalate, and Sonya Massey was killed with a shot to the head while emptying a pot of boiling pasta down the sink - by the same cops she called to help her.

I don't know what they need to do, but they need to do something to stop sh!t like that happening.

A police service with a racism problem is a problem for every citizen. There really is a case for defunding police that kill a disproportionate number of innocent coloured people. Build something less lethal to minorities. So she has a point

I'd also like to stress 376 officers responded to the police shooting at Uvalde. And not one of them did a god damn thing.

More officers isn't the solution, better training is. If Harris wants fewer but better trained police she will keep my vote.

The year george floyd was killed, enough was enough. How many unarmed black people were killed in all of the US?

    A lot I dare say.

America has a racism problem, and that gets concentrated in the police service. The police service needs reform and it needs not to be the play thing of local politicians who often share that racism problem.

A spoofer with some controversial views, that's all he is.

He's perfect for the republican party. They get what they deserve, same as the Dems.

Was she in charge of the border?

No. As is incredibly clear from what you quoted.

Seems clear to me some of our newer posters are just working though a list. I guess it pays the bills.

Within the scope of the topic and thread title? Where you going with this.

A University of Pennsylvania study 2015-2020 showed police killed blacks at a disproportionate rate:

51% of victims were white (57.8% of population was white, US Census data)

18% of victims were hispanic (18.7% of population was hispanic, ")

    2% of victims were Asian (6% " )

1.6% were Native American (1.1% American Indian or Alaska Native)

    26.7% were Black (12.4%)

Results This study shows that the rate of fatal police shootings for Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour
(BIPOC) is constant from 2015 to 2020. Further, BIPOC have significantly higher death rates compared with
Whites in the overall victim pool (Native American RR=3.06, Black RR=2.62, Hispanic RR=1.29) and
among unarmed victims (Black RR=3.18, Hispanic RR=1.45). Native American (RR=3.95), Black (overall
RR=3.29, unarmed RR=3.49) and Hispanic (RR=1.55, unarmed RR=1.55), victims had similarly high rates of
    YLL relative to Whites.

Conclusion Fatal police shootings are a public health emergency that contribute to poor health for BIPOC.
Urgent attention from health professionals is needed to help drive policy efforts that reduce this unjust
burden and move us towards achieving health equity in the US.

    https://www.chea.upenn.edu/wp-content/blogs.dir/70/files/sites/70/2020/10/Racial-Inequity-in-Fatal-US-Police-Shootings.pdf

There is overwhelming statistical and qualitative data to show this isn't some fluke or anomaly either and that there is inherent racism against Blacks within the culture of policing.

Shoot and ask questions later. Or not ask questions at all.

What is a lot? We would both say 1 is too many. But the year of george floyd we saw riots because too many unarmed black people were killed.

The answer is 18. In over 300 million people. The answer was 18. Is it too much? Yes. How many were white? The answer is 24. Per capita of course a higher % were black. BUT more white people were literally shot dead by police than black people.

NGO's blamed racism. But it is poor training standards and lack of man power in disadvantaged areas. This is what leads to accidental shootings. Im sure some are racist. But it is not Systimatic

Er, black people get killed more than white people?

The Khmer Rouge are to the left of the MAGA GOP on some issues :-)

The US basically has Far Right , Moderate Right and Centre Right.

There is no "Left" in the US as any other country on earth interprets the left/right political spectrum.

Exactly the point I made - Less SWAT teams and more social workers , resource teachers , community workers etc.

As was shared Blacks are murdered by police at a disproportionate rate, the exact number is academic. It's a problem that needs addressing by eliminating the systemic racism within police services.

Just watched a video of a police stop in seattle.

3 young … teens. Aged 13-14. Arrested by the militarized cops.

3 firearms found on the kids, 1 each. Features of the firearms included modified semi-autos/full autos. Extended magazine, and 1 was a polymer manufactured untraceable weapon.

At 13/14 years old. Public shopping area.

    sure

In a meeting on immigration on March 24, 2021, Biden announced that he had tapped Harris to “help
in stemming the movement of so many folks” from Mexico and the Northern
Triangle (El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras).

Apologies, but what's your point? That cops need to be militarized to deal with armed 13/14 year olds or the budgets need to be moved around (less armoured cars for cops) so there's more funding for education, social work etc, so 13/14 year old aren't arming themselves to the teeth?

OK, where to even begin. Let's first refer back to the summary from politifact :-

#1 Many prominent Democrats say Donald Trump's win in the 2016 presidential election was tainted.

#2 But their complaints don't align with Republican claims that the 2020 election, won by Joe Biden, was stolen.

#3 Democratic complaints in 2016 focused on events that happened during the campaign: Russian hacking to help Trump and a late October announcement that the FBI had reopened an investigation of Democatic nominee Hillary Clinton.

#4 Republican complaints in 2020 centered on disproven claims that Biden won because of a fraudulent vote count.

#5 Democrats in 2016 conceded that Trump was legally elected. Many Republicans, including Trump, still contest Biden's victory in 2020.

So, to start with, the complaint that Democrats had is supported by a 400+ page Special Counsel report and to surmise:-

The investigation produced 37 indictments; seven guilty pleas or convictions; and compelling evidence that the president obstructed justice on multiple occasions. Mueller also uncovered and referred 14 criminal matters to other components of the Department of Justice.

Trump associates repeatedly lied to investigators about their contacts with Russians, and President Trump refused to answer questions about his efforts to impede federal proceedings and influence the testimony of witnesses.

A statement signed by over 1,000 former federal prosecutors concluded that if any other American engaged in the same efforts to impede federal proceedings the way Trump did, they would likely be indicted for multiple charges of obstruction of justice.

    It goes on,

In 2015 and 2016, Michael Cohen pursued a hotel/residence project in Moscow on behalf of Trump while he was campaigning for President.[5] Then-candidate Trump personally signed a letter of intent.

Senior members of the Trump campaign, including Paul Manafort, Donald Trump, Jr., and Jared Kushner took a June 9, 2016, meeting with Russian nationals at Trump Tower, New York, after outreach from an intermediary informed Trump, Jr., that the Russians had derogatory information on Clinton that was “part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”[6]

Beginning in June 2016, a Trump associate “forecast to senior [Trump] Campaign officials that WikiLeaks would release information damaging to candidate Clinton.”[7] A section of the Report that remains heavily redacted suggests that Roger Stone was this associate and that he had significant contacts with the campaign about Wikileaks.[8]

The Report described multiple occasions where Trump associates lied to investigators about Trump associate contacts with Russia. Trump associates George Papadopoulos, Rick Gates, Michael Flynn, and Michael Cohen all admitted that they made false statements to federal investigators or to Congress about their contacts. In addition, Roger Stone faces trial this fall for obstruction of justice, five counts of making false statements, and one count of witness tampering.

The Report contains no evidence that any Trump campaign official reported their contacts with Russia or WikiLeaks to U.S. law enforcement authorities during the campaign or presidential transition, despite public reports on Russian hacking starting in June 2016 and candidate Trump’s August 2016 intelligence briefing warning him that Russia was seeking to interfere in the election.

The Report raised questions about why Trump associates and then-candidate Trump repeatedly asserted Trump had no connections to Russia

In short, the Democrats largely had a right to complain in 2016, but they (including Hillary) conceded the election. Trump had no right to complain about the 2020 election in the way he did, which was to say that massive electoral fraud took place. No credible evidence was ever produced that anything untoward went on. Every case but one (and I believe this case was about a technical matter tangential to the election itself) was thrown out of court. Even the Arizona county recount performed by that outfit 'Cyber Ninjas' not only found no fraud like what was being claimed, it actually returned an increased tally for Biden.

This is before you even get into the respective parties' reactions. Here's Hillary at Trump's inauguration -

    Untitled Image

    Here's Trump at Biden's

    Untitled Image

Well, this is a photo of him on inauguration day. He didn't actually attend the inauguration, as you know, because he is a bitter and spiteful little man.

And aside from being a spiteful and bitter little man, there's also the matter of his conduct on January the 6th, where he gee'd up a throng of his own followers to march down to the US Capitol in order to demand that those inside overturn a free and fair election. Something Hillary most assuredly did not do in January 2017, but 'shur they're all as bad as each other…'

And as the throng marched to and surrounded the Capitol, Trump tweeted out the following, to really cool the tensions,

    Untitled Image

Classy. Well, no. Paranoid, bitter, delusional, utterly irresponsible and so on, yes.

And before I forget, not only did Trump complain about the election after it happened, with no basis, he even did it before the election even occurred, with no basis.

"The only way we're gonna lose this election is if the election is rigged. Remember that."

Only on January 6th and 7th did Trump openly disavow the violence at the Capitol. In the weeks and months and years since then, he's only really rowed back on that. What's he calling them, now? Hostages, isn't it? The man evidently has no scruples.

This is all to illustrate how at no point before, during or since was the Democratic party view of and conduct around the 2016 election and Trump's view of and conduct around the 2020 one in any way morally equivalent, and therefore the point of 'well, the Democrats did it, too' is nonsensical and not based in reason or fact.

America had one of the highest prison populations on the planet and it with the majority been people of colour. It treats those prisons as slave labour which has the peverse effect of incentivising the police and judicery to criminalise youth and send them to prison. The whole of America has a criminal justice crisis of which is largely intentional. The whole system needs reform from the police to the private prisons for profit driving the criminalisation of youth and minorities.

that you cant really blame them for wanting to be militarized and/or have armored vehicles.

Trump and the GOP need to be careful with how much they push this Harris as Border Czar narrative.

Even if true, the easy response is that Trump was the czar during his term, it was one of his main policies as opposed to Harris who was operating under Biden, yet he failed to solve it.

So who did worse. The man that that promised to solve it, and get mexico to pay for the wall, or the VP given a secondary roll to review things.
