Is it a bad idea to not screw the plate in and use only the frame/holder instead?

    Hi, I wonder how much should I worry about if my plate will be stolen. Where I originally from we use the frame and the plate just slide in and out with clipping (well you even pick your own plate number as long as it is not taken already).

    Anyway, I thought to get a new plates done and did not want to screw on the plate. But I read that the screwing is to stop the thief stealing the plates since the plate number is for each car here.

    People don’t steal reg plates. If they wanted your plate they would just go to a parts store and get a new plate made for €10

    Plate frames are the devil, if not secured correctly it will bang against the paint on your boot every time you slam it and eventually work through the paint.

    Ditch the surround and screws and just use strong double sided tape on the plate.

    My missus had her plate stolen 3 times in the same week. Think it was just kids being little sh1ts though

    If someone wants to steal your number plate/plates they will do it no matter how

    it is secured. It's happened me twice. Once in england and once in a pub car park

    here. Nothing bad ever came from it, but I did report it straight away.

    Not sure if I ever feel secure with the tape even though it should work but just know that I will be thinking about if it falls off.

    Oddly I never notice or think it is flapping back in my country before. I think since my car has wholes that now are for those screw through plate, maybe and I hope I also can use that to secure the frame/holder for extra secure on the side tha would flap. Just hate the idea of screw on the new plates I would ordered.
