    so what else @flyer_query ??

You seem to have a bee in your bonnet over my input on this thread.

Some of it maybe a little too close to the truth for your liking?

So a staff member was shouting abuse and their supervisor moved them to a different role, let me guess they got the job to control the lights.

Ah would you stop the junk talk.

I have 209 reliable sources that Elvis was in Croke Park at the weekend (upper cusack), does that mean I am telling the truth?

The dude has family and friends and travels. Might be a lesson there for some of his more ardent detractors on Twitter. A life well lived it looks like to me.

So YouTube figures since the last episode was dropped are not really holding up. It would be interesting to see figures for other platforms, if they are similar to these.

Since Irvine Welsh's ep just 1,231 - 2,000 views have been received over the course of the week for all episodes.

It seems to me you need a guest to be that "RTÉ Guide" front cover, and in Andrea Corr they got that cover.

Corr's episode debut on June 24 and now has 3,200 making her the second most watched episode.

Walliam's episode was significant for it being the first and people rush to see it, he now has 4,900 views, but this only 400 more than what he had when Corr debuted.

The more internationally perceived guest have bombed Cox (1200), Horiwitz (860) and Welsh (450).

The rest are a mixed bag, Garrihy debut's well due to her exit from 2FM that week at 1300 but only picking up 400 views since bring her to 1700.

Even considering Corr's performance these aren't great figures.

If we assume that these figures are replicated across the main podcast networks (Apple and Spotify) and they get similar numbers in total across all other platforms, the total view/listens to date would be around the 100k mark so far.

I can't compare and I can only guess the numbers on other platforms, but to me this isn't a great place to be.

the problem is, even if he had a guest on that I’d be interested to listen to, the very fact the Tubble Tubble is the interviewer would make it extremely hard to watch…

Watching an interesting person being interviewed by Tubbers would be akin to having a full days access to the Garda’s Pulse computer system, but only using it to play solitaire all day….

maybe Bryan could get his bus driver licence and do a shift for TfL in the afternoons? Since doing a radio show on a smaller station and a hobby podcast isn’t really a way to make a living in the longer term.

That right there is the very essence of Brat Summer - a season to go wild in whatever way you want… but there are rules to a Brat Summer if you want to do it right. Going through all the rules, our Brat Summer expert Ryan explained: “When you’re out-out outfit is a strappy white top - that’s it! That’s Brat Summer. Even when the sun isn’t now, you’re grabbing for the black wraparound sunnies, it’s so Julia!”

Next up, it’s the much-needed summer sips. Ryan added: “The Brat Summer is a drink, and it’s sipping on neon orange drinks on the beach, according to the track Everything is Romantic. You’ve re-branded neon green highlighter as 'brat green' and it’s chic. Don’t be surprised if all the brat green highlighters are gone in the office,” he said.

He had a Brat Summer last summer. Got caught acting like a brat last summer.

to think that RTE were at one stage paying 500+k for that type of nonsense, and 9 months ago pay 250k, shows how out of touch they were/still are.

With Duffy running liveline like his private fiefdom, Darcy waffling on and on, shows RTE don’t have an quality control

Pierce Brosnan was at Wimbledon modelling a dapper Ralph Lauren suit. Looked fab!

Surely NK could’ve sneaked Tubs in to promote bog roll or bin liners or something -

Challenge of the day. Watch this from 9mins 30seconds and see how much of the cringefest name dropping ("just happened to be outside a pub talking to Russell Crowe as I glanced and said hey, that looks like Sinead O'Connor walking down the road") you can withstand. Sickening stuff, unless you're Bobson et al.

Understandable! But don't worry too much, only about 280 views across the UK for Tubs top tips so far.

An odd view here on there won’t make any difference folks. If you want to go and have a good hate watch then knock yourself out. YouTube views are absolutely no reflection of the popularity of a podcast.

I’ll never understand hate-watching and hate-listening but it seems it’s a thing amongst some folks. So many books that could be read, shows that could be watched, albums and shows that could be listened to. Mystery.

I have never see you express a real view, like do you think Dee Forbes did a good job? and shouldn't your anger at Tub's loosing his job be directed at her and Moya Doherty? What are are opinions of RTÉ Management over the years? Good, bad are are you indifferent to them, instead insisting that other put up and shut up?

Assuming this is the portion of Abbey Road that the Beatles crossed (as is his obsession), I would be guessing that the "funny looks" he was getting was from people trying to take the famous photo and wondering what this spanner was doing hanging around making it more difficult for them.

Regardless. What is this fool doing taking selfies at Abbey Road with a SuperValu bag for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,763 ✭✭✭✭AndyBoBandy

I don’t read or watch any of his fare apart from some inquisitive listens early on to confirm what I already knew (he’s useless), but I still thoroughly enjoy this thread. I don’t watch any soaps on TV (or any TV for that matter apart from some live sports), but Tubridy’s downfall, and the pathetic depths he’s been forced to limbo himself down to in the most excruciatingly cringy ways possible to attempt to stay relevant is my soap, it’s my Eastenders and Fair City….. And just with the soaps, I know they exist, yet have no care to watch them because I know they are sh1t. Similar to Tubridy. So knowing his downfall is well and truly under way, I have no care to watch it, but I greatly enjoy the fact it’s happening, because I simply don’t like the man.

I’m not bitter towards him and would never wish him ill health, but I just think he’s a Grade A, USDA certified, Limited Edition Ar$ehǒle.

There's still a few of these across Boards, it's just someone with a 'persona' account who thinks they're infinitely more clever than everyone else and chimes in with stuff like that. It's pointless engaging with them, and assuming you reply to me Bobson Dugnutt, I'm not going to engage with you either but work away.

I used to live on Belsize Rd (just around the corner) years ago - Yeah, really nice area alright. Nobody would give a toss about your bag unless it were making cries of 'help' and there was blood dripping out of it…and it's London ffs, a city where taxi's drive around people lying in the street

His show and content presentation is so out of kilter with what Virgin Radio UK is supposedly trying to target or appeal to. Most of their listeners are not really interested in some British author, btw this is no reflection on her, they have simply selected the radio station for music, hence will tune out if the music output turns to waffle. Brute forcing Ryan Tubridy onto their mid-morning schedule was a bad decision by NewsUK CEO. It makes no sense for an experienced radio PD to dollop a pseudo music/chat show - post breakfast with an unknown and unproven (in the UK) presenter onto a formatted music radio station and it is evident that they are trying to recover listeners by introducing a dedicated 80's hour immediately following his slot.

Irrespective of whether folks are interested in books or not, Virgin Radio UK's core listeners are not tuning into the radio station for this.

Furthermore, Tubridy is really not interested in winning over the UK listener. He has not altered his presentation or displayed any compatibility, resulting with some of their listeners having difficulty understanding or not being able to follow what he is saying.

Going around St Johns Wood with a SuperValu bag and posting images on Instagram from last week gives the impression that he really misses home. I would think the novelty of London has well worn off at this point, he doesn't want to be there and Virgin Radio UK listeners really couldn't care less about him. The Paddy Power sponsorship is his safety net but even they will not continue to flog a dead horse, pardon the pun.

Posting "happy" moments on Instagram is often a facade that helps people escape their true life, posting images to try to make them appear more successful and happier than they truly are.  This is what RT is doing.

He mustn't have looked at any signs on the island.

Inishbofin aka Inisbofin is one word. It's not separated like Inis Meann or Inis Oirr on the Aran Islands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 206 ✭✭flyer_query

ha true enough, Id say he would be home in an instant.

Out of interest, what would dedicating multiple hours each week to obsess and follow the movements (all the way from checking social media hourly, rage listening to their tv show and just random googling) of a person one claims to not like and posting non stop about it be a facade for? Some of the posters on here remind me of a 15 year old boy being cruel to a girl that they really fancy!

The Bofin is a beautiful part of the world. Some place to kick back and relax for a few days. Great pubs, great music, great food, stunning beaches, great walks, lovely locals. A place to put down the phone for a few days and enjoy a simpler life. Looks like he got the weather as well, which makes a huge difference.

Posting a happy update from the Bofin would seem like a very standard thing to do. Not sure it’s hiding anything. Strange theory tbh.

I lived in London for 16 years, three of them in Maida Vale, so not far from the famous Abbey Road crossing. It's London, you could go around wearing a shopping bag on your head and people might not bother to look - they've seen everything.

Maura hasn't replied, but Rose has. She said Ryan would be a brilliant supermarket tycoon and he's the next Fergal Quinn.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,744 ✭✭✭yagan

Bryan was hiding himself from the onslaught of adoring fans.

Thats the real reason he chose to broadcast to Ireland from elsewhere, the anonymity of London is a salve to the unrelenting adoration that engulfs on Irish streets.

    Poor lad.

Awh Maura1278, top lady. If you look at a lot of the accounts replying to Tubs accounts. They have a maybe 70/30 breakdown. With 70 per cent of the accounts resembling bots. I suppose it is a fairly normal practice.

It is odd he hasn't any angry replies looking for him to (rightly or wrongly) make a repayment to RTE for work not done.
