I don't think Nash would have changed the result as the backs played well. Peter Casey could have been the difference though.

But it's all guesswork. In truth Cork deserved the win.

just watched an excellent video of the limerick supporters welcoming home the hurlers at colbert station , a fantastic touch in fairness

Delighted to hear something like that happened. Was a bit sad today that we couldn't make some display of admiration from behind the barriers of Croke Park.

i am no good at posting links up at the best of times so i will leave it to some one else , it was excellent to see in fairness , the players were still despondent but great show of support ,

and personally i see it as a blip rather then a regular fixture , a small fix like maybe dropping cathal o neill back into the half back line next year could have a huge say in things

I thought the full back line was not great and the half back line not great either until later in the second half when they came back into it..

not sure it was a blip when its the same team and you concede a lot same way. I could see high up in the davin byrnes. Hannon struggling and mike casey struggled with the high ones down the middle. The breaking ball was mopped up and put over the bar.

Full back line under serious pressure.

Casey has not being going well this year and Finns form and lack of game time this year showed as he was not a shadow of himself.

You add a non big player (starman)like Hayes went to town..

Both Casey and Finn have had a tough time with injuries and no Nash up against a rapid Cork forward line was always gonna mean it had to be a game of putting up a huge score to beat them.

Hard luck Limerick. I'm confident there's more in this team though.

People are talking about age and pace, but the game was absolutely still there for Limerick at the final whistle. One or two wides after 70 mins, and a 2-point margin? Definitely still the team to beat. Nobody around me had any confidence that it was over until the whistle blew.

Speaking as a Cork supporter, just getting past Limerick is a good season and I feel like we're in bonus territory now. Hoping the Clare game is as good as yesterday's: excellent hurling by both sides.

Gillane surely gets an all-star too, just phenomenal.

Thought Cork were that little bit hungrier than Limerick yesterday and it was just enough to get over the Line , lot of miles on Limericks legs , even the cork supporters were more ravenous than Limericks who have become spoilt over the past 6 years.

Hopefully Cork will go win the All Ireland dont end up like Kilkenny who beat us in 2019 semi and then lost after doing the hard work to the well beaten Munster finalists Tipperary which would be Clare this year .

so its the team who beat limerick twice against the team that lost twice to limerick. If Clare do do it you cant say they are the best in the country.

gas the way everyone assuming this is the end of Limerick… limerick are almost certain to make an all ireland semi final again next year… and will be in with a serious shout

im afraid to say but Declan Hannon really struggled against the pace of that barrett chap yest…. declan has been fantastic to watch since he came on the scene in 2011…. and has had a good year this year.. but he is 33 this year i think? would limerick be better to put kyle hayes at 6 next year.. maybe cathal neill to 7 an darragh donovan midfield??

    Not finished at all.

Shure we still have 7 Munsters in a row to aim for.

Limerick's attack could be a match for anyone in the next few seasons but its unavoidable that change is coming in defence. The midfield options of O Donovan and O Donoghue are 30+ next season also

There hasn't been anyone to go past what has been there since 2018. Fergal O'Connor is the only panelist close to it but when push came to shove he wasn't brought on yesterday.

Another thing to note is that Limerick have only 1 player as a starter aged 23 and 26 and 1 other on the panel.

There is the change in the minor/under 20 to consider as it affects the players at 23-26 years old but even still its unprecedented for Limerick to have such a void between 23-25.

I'm not sure if anyone aged 23-25 in Limerick has started a championship game.

Kerry came back after the 5 in a row attempt, so too did Kilkenny but there is so much miles on the clock between 1-8 that they need to make major changes to go again.

At least they get a chance of a redemption in the gg v cork next season. Hopefully first up. That will be some game. Prob on gaa go too

that will be some game for sure and LKimerick are not finished… nowhere near it… hunger and desire will return and next year will see a refreshed limerick…

Limerick have been below Par for alot of games. Never really clicking to a high gear bar a “couple of quarters”. For fact that the likes of cork need to be almost perfect to scrap past Limerick shows the Bar Limerick are setting.
7 in a row Munster the next target.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,079 ✭✭✭hans aus dtschl

I think whether Clare or Cork win, unless it's a really 1-sided affair they're not going into next year as some kind of "benchmark" the way Limerick have been. Probably Limerick still the team to beat.

It's good for hurling, we're hopefully seeing the seeds of a competitive 2025 season again. Leinster is a bit of a disaster though.

Beaten by Clare when we were already qualified.

    Who else beat us ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,569 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

Limerick will probably be favourites for the AI again next year. There was only a puck of a ball between both teams yesterday. Limerick aren't going away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 212 ✭✭biglad40isback

    just clare.

2018. Beat tipp. Draw cork. Beat waterford. Lost clare. Best carlow kk cork and galway.

I think if Cork win the final they may start as favourites next year with the continued influx of youth they have, to be honest limerick have issues to sort next year, think some players could do with new roles, like Hayes, Lynch, Morrissey and work on renewal in defence. That's before we know if some of the players and management decide to step away after such a great run the last 7-8 years.

Noticed two young limerick lads really leave themselves down yesterday, right outside the entrance to the Hogan two 20's supporters obviously drunk were shouting after a steward asking for directions for the Hogan stand… They were calling him "foreign steward". Thankfully an older gentleman told them to shut up.
