I am Northsider lol. Anyway it takes a special type of sad act to come onto a group about an artist they hate. I hope your life improves.

I'm going to Coldplay and Slipknot this year, where do I fit in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭whitelaurel

A lot of people have eclectic tastes it’s not particularly unusual or edgy. But to come on to a thread about a band who you hate is juvenile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,731 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

I don't think it's unusual or edgy, I was asking the other fella where I'd fit into his criteria.

Lifes going just fine, thanks. And it's not hate, more an observation. Humans in the main, tend towards the bland and mundane. Yet will defend to the last their "individuality". An insect colony with delusions of grandeur.

is there even a way to buy tickets for these Coldplay concerts in Ireland yet? Basically what are the options for existing ticket holders to transfer/sell them to others if they can’t go themselves?

Ticketmaster has you in their back pocket. It's amazing such a monopoly is allowed to exist. You can get paper tickets, but they cost a few quid more.

Metallica and Coldplay for me. I’m not a huge fan of Coldplay, but I want to see them live because they put on such a good show.

Yeah their live show is very impressive. Can't say I've followed much of their recent stuff, but when I saw them back in 2017 it was a brilliant experience and the older stuff really drove the show. There was a great vibe in the venue too which was great. You'll enjoy it!

What's odd is poster's who hate Coldplay posting in a thread about coldplay. Don't you have real rock music thread you can go post on?

Those flags would get on your nerves in front of the stage at Glastonbury

No thanks Chris I paid enough for my ticket and I'll use my phone when I want (runs from here)

Music resonates with people, it's why 200,000 people collectively sang Coldplay last night at Glastonbury. There are real people behind these concertgoers. In a personal experience, my mum died 2 months ago at the age of 62 after years of illness, but she was always at concerts despite how ill she was. Memories and merch give meaning to the concerts. I have a signed Phil Coulter vinyl from her last ever concert which now has huge sentimental value, I have a personalised video from Chris De Burgh which he sent to me when she was on her deathbed, in which he sang her favourite song, and I will have the memories of all the concerts and shows I went with her which I can reflect on. It is these moments and memories which give a true perspective on music, and whether or not you like the artist, the music can be really powerful for many reasons. My mum and I both tried unsuccessfully for Coldplay and Taylor Swift tickets. Songs like Fix You, and Soon You'll Get Better just hit differently when you're going through grief. So before you criticise and insult people's music tastes, take a big step back and realise that music of different genres resonates with people for many different reasons and if people enjoy the music, then let them enjoy it without putting them down.

Well said. And has been pointed out already - a person who takes the effort to come on to a thread about a band he/she has no interest in to critisise that band needs to have a chat with themselves, and have a think about something else they could be doing with their spare time. If they are coming on to try to wind people up, then they obviously have phycological issues to deal with that they should focus their time and energy towards.

    Brilliant post

A few examples from my own experience, Garth Brooks announced the 2014 Croke Park concerts the day my mother was buried and it was devastating when they were cancelled later that year (parties from either side of the argument had flaws etc) and 2022 made up for it in a big way for me personally. Missing Hella Mega in 2022 because of Covid (the guidance for summer 2022 was all over the place in parts) was frustrating but made up for it this year seeing both Weezer and Green Day

Music/gigs a very small thing in life but it's the memories of the days that remain with you. The pints, the atmosphere around the area and the excitement of the it all .

do people think tickets will be okayish to get the week of the gig? Want to pick up two for the folks but have kind of given myself a budget of 400 quid. There is a lot of tickets over the 4 days and a Monday isn’t great so I’m hopeful. But Taylor swift tickets weren’t going this week at all at all.

It'll be a lot easier closer to the gig. People always try an offload them the week or so before so I'd say you'll have a decent shot. Keep an eye on Toutless and TM resale.

Taylor Swift is a bit of an anomaly and demand for Coldplay isn't remotely as crazy so I wouldn't let that put you off.

    Don't go there people . . It's pure shite.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭whitelaurel

yeah fingers crossed! In fairness I’ve seen the odd one pop up on TM but they’ve been very pricey so far and only singular. But most people do resale when plans change and that’s obviously gonna be short notice I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 921 ✭✭✭Dontfadeaway

They’ve sold double the tickets here but demand isn’t as crazy? They could’ve done another night or 2. Both are huge at touring.

Part of what you're saying is the point. If you've 150,000 tickets available to a hugely in-demand artist, it's going to be much harder to get tickets than a similarly in-demand artist where there 300,000 tickets out there. The shorter supply leads to a larger demand.

I'm not saying one is better or worse than the other.

I bought a seated Circle ticket in the MCD Presale on TM last week for St Vincent at the Olympia in October. €59.90 plus fees.

One day later on TM a seat in the exact same row clocked in at €212.50 plus all the levies.

The legislation wiped out regular touts and allowed the main seller to become the biggest tout in town. I'm cynical enough to believe it was quite deliberate.

Hi all. Myself and the missus have tickets in section 702, Row F. Anyone have any idea what the view would be like? Good/bad/average? Just wondering if I should be on the lookout for better seats.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,937 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

Here's a handy site for seat views.

    https://aviewfrommyseat.com/venue/Croke+Park/seating-chart/

There's no concert photos for that section but there are some for the section next to you (703) and they look good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 373 ✭✭cr-07

Thanks for that. Have actually checked this site prior to posting my query 😄

Just in the fear that we may be too high and squashed into the corner of the stadium - don't want to be caught out with only a side view of the stage, and not of Chris Martin and his antics.

Last time Coldplay were in Dublin, we had seats in the Upper Davin. Those seats were nice; they were very central but a bit far away. Amazing atmosphere & show none the less though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,937 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

No problem! You should be good. Personally I'd take upper seats nearer the stage than lower tickets further away so I'd be happy with those. They'll also have a B stage and walkway that runs down to the center of the pitch so even if you end up a bit tight, you'll still see everything on the B stage.

I'd imagine the week before the gig it'll be the same craic as Taylor Swift were you can't get in a queue to but tickets with a code? So heads up for that. I don't what way you get the codes I'd imagine it's like presale where you apply?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 13,937 ✭✭✭✭Exclamation Marc

There won't be codes. There were none for the original sale so there won't be for any future ticket releases. TS was an anomaly to manage demand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭TheIrishPC

I think it's at the time of just keep regularly checking for tickets but also using common sense. A resale ticket came up this afternoon, I could have bought it, but I really don't feel comfortable paying €400 for a ticket. Someone did though because it was gone a few minutes later.

The issue with buying resale is you then can't resale that ticket, you can only transfer it to someone. And I didn't want to be stuck with a €400 ticket if a better and/or cheaper ticket came along on Ticketmaster.
