I see the new Assembly Stage at Silver Hayes is completely covered. That'll be a sweatbox - seems to be structured a bit like Terminus at EP with shipping containers around the front.

They’ve caught a lot of flack recently for not providing enough shade when it’s hot. 2019, 2022 and 2023 were all fairly sunny and warm so maybe it’s a response to that.

Was glad of the Wow/Sonic stage during the day last year. Fierce bar queues there though during the afternoon.

Bring water and a sun hat for the queue on Wednesday @Ferris_Bueller, it looks like it’s going to be warm and we’ll be getting to gate A when it’s probably at it’s busiest.

Looks like it'll be pretty good weather-wise, happy times to those of you lucky to be going over for it. I only managed to go once, in 2022, and it was one of the best few days of my life. Pretty sure the weather in 2022 was a key factor for my enjoyment of it.

Oh shite. That's rough. Enjoy yourself Thursday evening though. I love Thursday as it is so chill (bring back William's Green).

I mean, look, could be worse. Could be on long drop duty

Haha.. My own fault for not putting in a preference as to which bar to work in. Didn't know what any of them were! Two 5AMs seems pretty harsh though!

Will still see plenty of acts during the day. Not a hope I won't be having a few pints either. I guess it's nice to be free all day Sunday too. Staying optimistic!

Stonebridge is one of the better ones to work IMO, at least you'll have some good acts to watch and a bit of a vibe. Baggy Mondays, MJ Cole and Daniel Avery on Thurs, Annie Mac Friday, Erol Alkan, Jamz Supernova and Idris Elba on Saturday. 9pm onwards on Fri/Sat shouldn't be too busy either.

Baggy Mondays sounds like my kinda thing alright. What kinda music is generally played there though? Techno goes through my head

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,403 ✭✭✭crl84

Well it's mostly DJs, very little techno on the lineup for it, but if you're using "techno" as a catch-all term for house, tech-house, and various forms of dance music, then you'll probably hate it!
They tend to have softer/less-dancey stuff during the day, but 9pm onwards will be upbeat dance music.

Jamz Supernova and Idris Elba will prob play house/disco:

MJ Cole will play UK Garage/RnB

Looking at the names, most of them will probably play house

Daniel Avery doing an electroclash set, which will probably sound similar to this, which might be a bit too close to techno for you, but at least he starts at 19:30 on Thursday, so you'll only have 30mins of it before you clock off!

Stonebridge is an institution. Prefer to work there that a dozen other specs. Thurs afternoon?? Proper Glasters baptism, that.

The hiking boots and heavier jacket have been left out of the bag last minute. Still bringing a lighter waterproof jacket and a second pair of runners. 12 hours until departure!

Thanks for that! Ah, I don't really mind.. It's just the initial reaction from everyone when I tell then I'm working there they're like 'Oooof' I'll embrace it anyway.

Had a great night tonight doing a bar crawl of the staff bars. Amazing how busy it is before the gates even open

Having breakfast in Bristol. Off shortly. Overcast today at moment. Great. Give me on/off cloudy with occasional very light showers. Would be perfect weather

Would be pretty difficult after the first days as just too busy everywhere. There was a good article on the BBC new yesterday and this morning about an organised run that happened on Thursday morning I think.

My running would usually be on hold for the duration, except for a Saturday morning jog along the lanes to Shepton Mallet and then doing the parkrun there.

Just stuck my head into it this evening, FFing through the recordings from earlier. OMG bands nowadays aren't a patch on those of the past. I really only took a look to see if I could find Dexy's Midnight Runners set: seems BBC2 only showed two songs, Geno and Come On Eileen. What a disappointment both those were: some things are best left in the past I suppose. Kevin's voice is gone: still powerful enough, but very off-key, and the brass section wasn't a patch on the Searching For The Young Soul Rebels lineup. Sad. I suppose everything has its heyday, its salad days, and you can never go back; you just have to hope to be there at the time, or else rely on recordings of those days.
