totally agree - I was more referring to the absolute requirement that you pick up your car before June 30th, which is done purely for corporate reasons to prop the share price. No other manufacturer does that.
You’d just say “see you Jul 1, 9am, thanks”.

I can somewhat understand people stressing about a move from year 24 to 25 but the mid-year change was always cynical, ridiculous move and was only introduced at the behest of the dealers lobby. They knew people would attach significance to it and drive mid-year sales when in reality there's very little difference in 2nd hand value, if any. Year, condition and mileage are far more important than whether it was registered before or after June.

I delayed a new car in recent years for a month, to July 1. not only was it not an issue but the garage had assumed it was the case and had it moved to that date already.

Garages register lots of cars at the end of quarters to themselves, but no garages will force you to take delivery the way that Tesla do. Its a non-negotiable for Tesla actually, when you consider they threaten to take away your car and have actively done that in the past.

Call it what you like, but they couldn’t care less about ‘you’, they just need someone anyone to take the damn car before 6pm June 30th!

My guess is that they won’t - so much of the Tesla car story is tied to propagating the share price - and musk has repeatedly said they would sacrifice margin for volume.

80% of revenue is coming from the 3 and Y - it’s hard to see them ever consider making them uncompetitively priced.

I guess we’ll all know in a few weeks - worst case scenario they’ll rise the price, have a huge hit to EU sales, and drop it again as inventory piles up

edit: did I read somewhere in the past few weeks that Tesla sales in Germany were -60% this year or something like that - imagine if the cars were 20% more expensive

All that has been flagged is an intent by EU to impose Tarrifs on Chinese EV imports and it is open for any manufacturers to make representations before 4th July. Tesla have already made representations and are even specifically mentioned in the EU press releases so any view on the level of tarrifs that "might" be imposed are speculative rather than definitive. For anyone sitting on the fence now might be the time to press the button to remove uncertainty, a fact not lost on Tesla either in terms of pushing Q2 sales. Regardless Tesla will remain competitive relative to other manufacturers and the Model Y for Ireland has now begun tobe sourced from its Berlin factory.

Got the 2024.20.1 update a week or so ago. Haven't had much night driving since, but the lights don't actually turn. It just changes the matrix pixels towards the turning side. But any little improvement is to be welcomed.

The lane follow when in autopilot seems to require more pressure to override, perhaps I am imagining? Also the wipers (dare I say it) seemed better today when going through a thunder shower, but too early to say yet..
