European Parliament Elections 2024 - Friday, June 7th

Any tallys or numbers from any of the constituencies?

It's crazy that the election happened on Friday and here we are Sunday night and it looks like we won't even have 1 full successful count in any of the 3 constituencies.

Surely there is a faster way to implement some electronic counting?

They couldnt announce any counts until 10pm Sunday as rest of Europe voting. So counting is focused on locals.

Seems to be a gap no exit polls but with transfers being so important they only would give half the story.

I do think the Euro voting should be more streamlined.

RTE have 3 plus hours of coverage to fill but the count staff are a starting to pack up for the night at all 3 European counts. 😬

She'll certainly have more horse sense than most and will be able to negotiate all hurdles with ease. Probably a good candidate for a whip position. Stands for stable governance.

Gonna be a dogfight in Dublin. Transfers could go anywhere.

I’d hazard a guess & say she will be shown the door by the end of summer.

I can sleep slightly easier seeing how low Daly is at the minute. She's not totally out, but will need to hoover up a ridiculous number of transfers in order to catch the top 4. Presumably she'll get a big chunk of Smith's, but between the 2 of them they don't even make 2/3s of a quota.

It's not going to take a month, it's going to take a couple of days. The parliament meets for first time in mid-July, so there's no rush. And it gives a good amount of time to analyse and digest the results, so what harm?

A couple of days is generally regarded as 2 days.

There is no way in hell we are going to get all these done tomorrow. Most likely, this is going to go on till the weekend, if not the week after for those final seats.

This is one of the reasons why we are so slow at getting **** done in this country, and it seems if you point it out, you get a "sure it will be grand, what's the rush" as if you are mad for asking for a tiny bit more efficiency?

NCH was supposed to open in 2020, most people now think it will be 2026. There is a correlation here.

Andrew’s and Doherty obviously, presume Lynn Boylan too, eventually. For the fourth seat Cuffe has a cushion over ORiordain which should see him thru. Niall Boylan will probably do well from the various national front types but dunno if he will be sufficiently transfer friendly after that. Cannot see a path for Clare ‘Vlad’ Daly to make it. After her antics over the past few years my faith in the cop-on of the electorate has been restored.
