That's sad. Suppose that those press releases are necessary to try convince people that an Ex-RTE star is still famous. In other news, Doireann Garrihy left 2FM and she is going to concentrate on her podcasts and other things. Perhaps Tubridy will have some competition in the podcast field.

I know some of you guys have a thing about Ryan, but I think ye should still acknowledge that he is now doing a very good job on Virgin. It took a while to find his feet, understandable in a new job and city, but it’s now excellent radio.

You should do a trawl the internet to see how Irish newspaper are clickbait for Irish "stars". Huge amount of non-entities who continue to get "column" space.

Search Jennifer Zamparelli, she gets at least one news report each week, even when she is not on DWTS.

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

This shouldn't be a statement for someone who has been on TV and Radio for 2 decades. He moved to London not to the other side of the world and even then he has 2 decades of experience not to have to find his feet.

It is actually three decades, possible four. I cannot remember if he was on air prior to 2000.

But yes, it is what might be expected to be said of someone with much less experience. At the start of their career. It is what I would have said about Angela Scanlon when she started in the UK.

I haven't listened to Ryans UK show. I was one of those listeners who slept walked into his show after Morning Ireland. So cannot comment on how good or bad he is.

But with three (maybe four) decades of his game and as the "most talented and competent" host in Ireland. One would expect a lot better then "he is now doing a very good job on Virgin. It took a while to find his feet".

Best of luck Ryan. You had the best education money can buy, priceless connections in the Irish media. Limited talent. But with the restricted options available to you. You went far.

You were able to get a job in a media group your grandad was the ex chairman of. Gifted a position and then groomed for star hood.

With all those disadvantages, you were able to rise to the top of RTE. Who would have thought a poor boy from South Dublin could do it.

Then like Icarus you flew to close to the sun and it all came crashing down.

Some might say it is hubris to think you still deserve the adoration of the Irish public.

But sure as Sunny Dispostion said well down. Your a top fella.

You have taken decades of experience.

Moved to a new country and city. That is more then a 30 minute flight away .

With nothing but a healthy bank balance and a well paying job.

To present a largely music based show.

With little need for a presenters input.

You were crap for months. But maybe just maybe you have found your feet.

I never had an interest in the person, but in the manner in which a person can be promoted and rewarded way beyond any discernable talent.

This thread is about how rte executives vastly overpaid, Ryan being the primary example.

The thread might state his name, but ultimately this thread is about rte self regard meeting reality.

Any indications on how things went for Tubridy?

Just on that Doireann Garrihy leaving RTE (I've never seen or watched her other than 2 minutes of that dreadful candid camera thing RTE has wasted more of my licence fee on), but the Indo today has HALF of the front page dedicated to a photo of her.

    What gives? Why?

Edit: half of page 2 and all of page 3. Wtf.

Absolutely beyond ridiculous, Tubridy wore something Victorian back in 2015, so now anyone wearing a Victorian outfit is copying him? Is it meant to be a serious allegation or not? If it was last christmas and Tubridy was still doing the show and wore it maybe, maybe he gets away saying that for coincidence sake.

Does Tubridy think Keoghan's going to meet that accusation with some playful grin and think it's all bantz? He probably spent a long time chosing that. Tubridy should count himself lucky if Keoghan doesn't blow him out of it. This was his moment and Tubridy is trying to insert himself into it like a teenage girl desperately chasing clout.

I just tried to check his instagram page and it gave me a blank page. No access. All I ever did before was post a 1 liner about 150 something or other. Confused.

Maybe somebody could ask about the 150 or is it 300,000 that way? I doubt it though, all callers are probably NKs secretary putting on different accents.

It is a badly worded sentence in the report, that RTÉ news picked up on, the table that relates to the 150,000 is 2 payment of 75,000, but they worded it as (I am paraphrasing) - two payments were made of 150,000 costing a total of 265,000.
