Petrol Lawn Mower recommendations?

Hi all.

My Briggs and Stratton powered mower has died after a lot of years hard service !

Im looking for opinions of good mowers - front lawn and back lawn medium sized .

Then i have more land with 'tough' grass on it that i need to cut also.

Any help appreciated.

Dont buy an aluminium deck weibang, the mowers great. But the paint on the deck has come off and the aluminium corrosion is dreadful

I dont think the robot would work… It would on the lower lawn around the house, but dont think it would manage the tougher wilder grass ?

I got a mount field sp164 for €300 in B and Q and it has been excellent so far this year

Go Briggs and Stratton engine again anyway and although they are a little more expensive aluminum deck is better as it won't rust like the steel will acyet a short period of time. I matter how well maintained and wintered it is.

Old post at this stage but wondering what op means by “died”. Most common problem with these is the carb seals go and engine won’t start.

New seals are cheap and replacement is easy.

I live in a housing estate and our lawns really aren't huge but most of my neighbours that have petrol lawnmowers have gone with the ProLawn Mowers from Woodies, they're cheaper but if you're not working them hard then they're fine. So it really depends on what you're use for them is before deciding on what you buy.

You need to power wash the underside of Aluminium Deck and let it dry outside if you cut damp grass or it will rot the Deck and no harm to give the underside a coat of Hammerite anti rust paint at end of season

I went with the Mountfield SP164 123cc from B&Q. €279 delivered.

I don't have much grass, hopefully it will cope.

That's a good price. I on the other hand have a lot of grass with approx 750m2 of lawn.

Would knowledgeable boardsies know if this lawnmower would stand the test of time with a lawn this size? I'd love a ride-on but their outside my budget this year.

Thanks pretty much what I'm doing, however my 90s alu deck mountfield never had that problem. So I'm still going with bad paintwork.

I use this place in Dublin 12. Sell 2nd hand petrol mowers and very reasonable. They also took my old dead petrol mower back.
