Absolutely, great to hear especially for an afternoon game, made a huge difference to the atmosphere. Hopefully this continues.

Disappointing result but they stayed in the game until the end against the Champions. Just finding it hard to be creative against well organised defences. Squad looks decent but we'll need to start creating chances.

Bohs will be tough Friday, they were very good against Galway tonight, the new manager buzz.

    Good win away from home

Great win for the Blues. Podge has replaced Coughlan beautifully. Everybody taking points off each other at the moment, except Dundalk. Was hoping Shels would take all 3 points in Drogheda to detach the Louth duo at the bottom and give us a bit of comfort! Would be happy with 3rd last come November 1st.

    When is Baggley due back?

    Massive 3 points last night

Another month I was told at the game last night

Amond was outstanding last night. Take away the goal he was still MOTM for me. Never stopped running. Great hold up play, calm on the ball and brilliant at talking to the rest of the players. Taking nothing away from Coughlan but I think he's an upgrade in this division.

Thought we defended brilliantly, Horton the stand out for me, threw himself at everything. Wingers played well also, Parsons never afraid to take on his man which is what you want. All round great performance with alot of heart and commitment shown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,638 ✭✭✭Boooourns

Yeah I'm a big fan of Amond, you can see he just has it. His attitude is also brilliant, he throws everything into the game, some man to win a header for his size as well

Brilliant result, they were spot on last night and the decision to put the big Polish lad on the bench was right as well, he's looked a bit clumsy on the ball at times. Defence looked much more solid.

What a season Darragh Power is having as well, he's been absolutely brilliant for us so far.

Think a fair few of the fans, probably the newly found ones I suppose in all honesty need to reassess their expectations for the season. Survival is the name of the game this year and avoid a playoff too for a bonus point.

We've had a very good first set of fixtures overall I think, team will continue to gel and settle, of course we are seeing how important Baggley is now again when he isn't there. Could do with more creativity in the midfield, Podge has been amazing, but another who could do with some help up there.

Keep the heads and keep the faith, things are going well. We aren't going to win the league.

Tough game last night, at least we weren't beaten again by Galway.. Roll on Pat's Away next FRIDAY.. We're playing better Away from home than at home so far this season

The opposition give us more space to attack away from home, we're finding hard to attack sides who defend in numbers in the rsc.

What has improved massively is our defence, unfortunately it's not working for the big Polish lad at the moment, hopefully he finds his form but shifting to a back 4 with Leaghy and Horton at CB is working for us , 2 clean sheets in a row, fair play to Long for changing things making us more solid.

Another tough game against Galway and we nearly won it but an important point. We're a hard side to beat but we also try and play football, just keep it going.

Big game Friday against Pat's… we've a good record up there last few seasons, so hopefully it will continue this weekend. Should be a Big Away following in Inchicore

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,179 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Crazy how competitive this league is

A very decent start for us but we're in 8th place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,848 ✭✭✭Smell the glove

Two points dropped by the blues there last night. If we had of taken our chances we would have been out of sight by half time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭skaface

Spot on.. bad mistake from our keeper for the goal.. the only real chance they had sll game..says how far we've come when we're disappointed coming away from Inchicore with a draw.. we've taken 4 from a possible 6 points off the current cup holders already this season.. Derry at home next Friday is a must win now.. have to start winning our home games

Congrats to the Waterford team on winning the Oscar Traynor Cup

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,260 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Derry is not a must win game. Yes we need to start picking up more wins at home, but the likes of Derry, Rovers, Shels etc are not the teams we need to call must wins at home. Galway was more in that category, Dundalk will be, Drogs too.

look it’s all very well clapping draws which in many cases is merited but it’s getting the odd wins is going to keep you up , it also puts less pressure on the tougher away games . While not many games are easy in this league a tight league means you can easy switch directions both positively and negatively very easy . At the moment they are doing fine just out of relegation zone just not get complacent .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭skaface

Derry aswell.. with their bad run of form at the moment, now is the time to catch them at home on Friday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,638 ✭✭✭Boooourns

Long is doing a great job with this team, we're always in close games bar that Derry game that was played on a trampoline. Looking very solid at the back, McDonald is really impressing in midfield and Almond is a lethal forward. Just keep it all together for the season and I think we should stay up.

Although you never know what's around the corner with this club, at the moment it actually looks a professional outfit.

Ah here, that second goal. Jesus if an U-14 team defended like that you’d be fuming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,483 ✭✭✭decies

this goes back to applauding draws , this team needs wins fast . No shots on Target .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭Dunmoreroader

Totally bossed by Derry tonight, they looked a different level. The two Louth clubs both winning tonight doesn't help either. We badly need a win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,638 ✭✭✭Boooourns

Yep that was a bad night. Derry are really good and we're starting to struggle to create at home, we need another forward to throw in who's up to the job.

    Anyone seen Baggley?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 907 ✭✭✭skaface

Worst performance I've seen from the team this season.. Constantly playing the ball across the back four and no creativity at all.. playing Podge up front on his own playing at home says it all really.. Keith has to take responsibility for team selection and tactics.. Both were very poor in my opinion last night.. Also, too many passengers out there last night that didn't seem to want to know.. We're bang in the relegation battle now, especially with other results last night.. Hopefully Baggley and Burke are back playing soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,260 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Easily the worst performance of the last year I'd say, very very bad. We were completely controlled by Derry, who toyed with us and showed the true level difference.

I don't see anything with Rowan in midfield, hes okay as a DM but anything else I just don't see, and when we are without Baggley there is just nothing creatively coming from our midfield which isn't going to cut it. Long needs to find a solution for that I thought he was supposed to be back by now but even at that one player cannot completely make you or break you.

Bad night all round, was cold, and the two teams below winning but again, Derry are not the type of team that we "need" to be beating, if we could have got something it would have been a good result but it is the mannger of the defeat that would worry you.

I understand it, set up hard to beat first and foremost, just scrape enough points on the board to survive this season and build, no issue but sometimes we do need to be a bit more proactive in our play I feel.

At this point of the season (and probably until mid-summer) there's normally a couple of teams up at the top who've pulled away from the others (or most recently one team that has) a load of teams bunched around the middle, one team who is definitely getting relegated and then 1-2 teams in the drop zone.

Drogs play Shamrock Rovers away in their game in hand tonight, but Waterford should be finishing above them as they're the only part-time team in the league. Anything less is a failure.

After that Waterford are trying to stay in that middle bunch, but the next few games will tell a lot. Sligo Rovers away, Shamrock Rovers away and then probably a must win fixture at home against Dundalk. They'll have Shelbourne away and then another two fixtures that they need at least four points from - Drogheda and Bohs.

I wouldn't be too panicky about Waterford but the big issue for me is they look a bit too light and not physical enough - and that could be important in the last few weeks on worsening pitches if they need to win ugly or get through playoffs. Very hard to build a siege mentality like Shelbourne have when the squad is so transient also.

I would be interested to see what's happening with Romeo's transfer fee - or if that's already been burned through in terms of salaries for the existing squad.

Awful shite on Friday night. Huge problem at left full, huge problem in the centre of the park. MacDonald totally overrated and living off the fact he played for Man City youths. You need a player like Stanley/Keegan in the middle to the park to hold the ball and dictate the game. Asamoah is a one trick pony and I don’t know how Romeo hasn’t started ahead of him. It’s baffling. Darragh Power is the only player we have outside of Romeo who has the ability to go play his trade in England. Whoever gave the go ahead to pay a transfer fee for McCormack needs his P45. Radkowski and Macadam are probably 2 of the worst signings we’ve had in recent years. Pattison is robbing a living.

Put your keyboards away doom and gloomers the blues won tonight 😁. The despair from losing to one of the best sides in the country last week was funny

Up to 7th now. The away games suit out football by the looks of it, more freedom to play.

Great win against a team that always give us bother. Rovers away on Monday will be as tough an away trip as any but the team will give it there all

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 198 ✭✭Deiselurker

We needed that win to get away from bottom 2 and now gone ahead of Sligo as well.

Tough away game on Monday and a big one then next Friday v Dundalk. We need to start winning at home.

Great win last night, didn't see that one coming.. although we're playing better away from home so far this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,260 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

    C class is a class alright 😄

Only Shels and Rovers, who've played a game more have more point than us away from home. Rank bottom of the table for home form though so need to start converting more but look we won't complain at the moment. Still going well, with plenty of scope to improve.

On the road to the capital tonight, expecting a good night out but anything in the way of a points return would be a pure bonus. Always like going to Tallaght Stadium for some reason!

What a weekend of results,6 points from 2 hard away trips, very small negative is that Drogheda and Galway won today

  • Registered Users Posts: 330 ✭✭Dammo

    Some result in fairness

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,638 ✭✭✭Boooourns

Class again today! Open you eyes to this lad, his career has been wrecked with injuries but is showing the that talent that gave him the chance at City. I love the way he can breeze past a player with 2 touches. Can't wait for Baggley to be in there with him.

Another brilliant away performance today, Long is doing a hell of a job, some brilliant signings in there.

This league is all over the place there is no doubt if they can keep this up Europe might not be a pipe dream after all , but they need to kick on .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,260 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

I think he is solid as a DM but don't see anything else there, sure it's grand. If we agreed on everything would be boring 🤷🏻‍♂️

Unreal performance yesterday, went there expecting nothing, Podge has been some signing. Busts his bollox 90 minutes a game week in week out for the team, inspiring at his age.

Think we are now top of the league for away from and bottom for home form 😂 really hope we can follow up strong by putting in a performance, and more importantly getting 3 points at the RSC Friday. It's been a very good return to the top flight so far, whatever the naysayers have to say

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,638 ✭✭✭Boooourns

😁 Absolutely. Fair to say I'm a fan, I think he's really underrated. The more games he plays the better he'll get, he's been hampered by injuries and that's an absolute curse for a footballer.

Amond, MacDonald, Horton, Leaghy and Power have been the standouts for me so far. Others not too far behind to be fair.

Huge game Friday night and hopefully a big turnout for this team, they certainly deserve it. A win at home is badly needed.

Table looking a bit healthier after another great win. Hitting a bit of form now. Long may it continue.
