The Polestar 4 ad, I keep thinking I'm going to here "I am José Mourinho" at the end of it.

    'Would m'lady care to dance?'

Why is the Butler inviting someone to dance with him?

That annoying IKEA ad is getting to Maroon 5 2018 World Cup levels of ubiquity.

The Centra add where the old pair meat over a ready meal.

They just stare into each others eyes , then the old girl wanders off followed by the auld lad.

Who comes up with this sh*te?

Note he lends them Ladder no. 32. That's after the other 31 were never brought back.

The AIB ad with man in the car with I presume his daughter in the back seat. Is he at a viewing for a house? He brings the poor child out in the rain with no umbrella and a little jacket on her. When they get back to the car, they’re both bone dry. He says “what do you think?” The child just looks at him, no response……. Is it for a mortgage?

The "Whoosh" Tescos ads. I hate ads that try SO hard to make a new viral "thing" like the last batch of I think it was Bud Light ads. "Jilly Jilly" or "Gilly Gilly" or something. DESPARETLY to recapture the "Wassuuupppp" wagon.

I know they all do it and that's the dream - to have a catchphrase enter the public consciousness but this one is just trying too hard

There is one where this woman jumps out the window wearing her pjs then runs through neighbours gardens jumping fences as she goes, down the street to boots. What is the big emergency that caused her to do this? she wants to buy perfume!

Especially considering it's brand new, the stickers are still on the steps ffs.

Not sure Woodies would like it if an entire community shared just one ladder. They should really be highlighting how cnutish some neighbours can be, and encouraging everyone to buy their own stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,644 ✭✭✭deezell

I think the unreturned 31 previous ladders highlights the point, which is, 'Go to Woodies and buy YOUR OWN fking ladder'. My own lending list; Two burnt out drills, one hedge trimmer with the cable cut off, and the same hedge trimmer (after I'd repaired the cable) with the reciprocating mechanism ground into metal shavings. Various non returned hand tools also. This could make a fun thread elsewhere.

Eek, got that ad all wrong when I saw it first - thought it was all about sustainability, ie share instead of buying more and couldn't see how Woodies would benefit 😴😴

I think so….but very obscure….who does that? …talk to your ma on the blower then drag your young daughter out to?view a house in the pouring rain….then asks “what do you think” when you land back….weird ad…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,287 ✭✭✭jojofizzio

Baz and his “reveal” party ….for a BER….please just go away…on at every break too🫣😩

The buns looked delicious, I wonder were they real? Must be cheaper than making props buns. Its an ad for buns and cake. I really wanted a big iced bun after watching it.

Baz has really sold his hole soul to the corporate man

Ardal O Hanlon and Phelim Drew the goto's for radio adverts/voice overs....both starting to really irritate me.

When your career is over, its never really over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,644 ✭✭✭deezell

Maybe we like our artists to be above materialism, but, they gotta feed the kids. Baz probably could well afford to stay true, but, a gift horse and all that. Maybe he got burned producing his last dramatic effort, I only watched one episode, never felt compelled to revisit.

I often wondered how Brian Kerr never voiced ads, for something traditional like sausages or the like. I'll bet he had offers, but maybe knows better to protect his media identity.

Brian Kerr would be the perfect voice for Brennans bread on the radio!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,644 ✭✭✭deezell

A good few years ago there was controversy and resentment in acting circles over the use of 'real' people's voices for voice-over, such as popular DJs, presenters, instead of actors creating a character voice for the ad. The era of the influencer was being created. I think Bill Golding (Rory in Wanderly Wagon from the 70s), who voiced the 'Old Mr Brennan' ads, was one of the complainants. Here's a treat of a version of the Ad which was never meant for Broadcast. Now that's a proper ad!

All the Verisure Alarms ads. Real scaremongering. Bunch of posh tw@ts saying how the house down the street got burgled.

Oh my golfball hit their window. So terribly sorry

Just checking in person to make sure.

Jolly good service, young man… I REALLY must invest.

I remember the actor Barry McGovern making that point. Acting has to be one of the least secure professions around.

And that reminds me, there are a few ads (maybe on radio) at the moment that sound to me like they are done by the Irish Siri voice, or maybe just by the woman who provided the template (or whatever they call the input to create it). Which then made me wonder, is it far off that voice-overs will be artificially created, cutting humans out of the gig completely?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,644 ✭✭✭deezell

That reminds of the ad where the smart speaker disobeys the orders of the bearded geeky desk bound IT owner, followed by a tirade of cutting insults, including calling him a 'scrote'. Great ad, I can't find it, can't even remember what was being advertised. The bit where she accuses him of crying at some movie or other I think, brilliant. I noticed its easy to get audio in that voice, just send the speaker a message, and alexa will read it out.

Another one of those awful haribo ads where adults sound like preschool kids. Who thought they were a good idea?

What's that Ad about the gender pay gap about? I mean the 'Ireland is 'unintelligible noise'' in Europe?
