Work college has Sky Q, and has had enough of the bills.

I was suggesting a freesat box, and ditching the sky.

Will the freesat stb with the sky Q lnb ?

If you pick your box carefully it will.
Most of the easily available boxes won't work with the Sky Q LNB, so you'll need to look for the word 'wideband' in the description for the LNB requirements.

It could be cheaper if it's even possible to replace the LNB or see if it's a hybrid one with outputs for the more common receivers.

The ARRIS Freesat box should work with the Sky Q lnb, it's the more recent box, mixed reviews. Remember, no Irish channels on Freesat but they available through the tv's own tuner with an aerial.
