    Agree with this.

With Leinster being so far ahead for most of the last 15 years we just haven't frequently seen Leinster fans have to choose sides for or against another province in a big CC knock-out game when Leinster are sitting at home.

If continued success means other province fans supporting our opponents it is a very small price to pay.

Bordeaux look superb! As do Toulouse. No easy pickings left. Still there's no point in looking past LaR. A very difficult task, but doable.

Ah he got selection wrong v Munster if he had of gone stronger instead of resting players for game v LAR we would have won. Easy for me to say in hindsight though. Also to be fair the ref was woeful that day too( I never blame refs for defeats but he was shocking as he always is v leinster )

Cullen was threading the needle and barring the tiniest margins in both games he nearly hit it perfectly.

I've no problem people saying he got it wrong, as he lost both, but I don't see any evidence he got it 'badly wrong' which is what the post claimed.

ROG put out a shadow LAR team the weekend before the final also so it wasn't like Cullen went against the grain of what the victorious coach did.

Do you cut and paste this for different threads?

Reasons to be optimistic against La Rochelle:

They showed against the Bulls they can keep the ball alive in attack with offloads/passes instead of going ruck to ruck to ruck. That takes La Rochelle's prowess at the breakdown out of it.

It will be more difficult than in past meetings for La Rochelle to sustain pressure, because of Leinster's more aggressive defending and more frequent contesting at the breakdown.

It could go either way, but I'm quietly confident. Ryan is a huge loss, though; him and McCarthy complement each other very well.

I'd have no concern about Molony and McCarthy. In isolation perhaps there would be a slight disadvantage, but overall we have the best Club back row in the World and that makes up a peerless group of loose forwards.

With La Rochelle having had a tough game and a round trip to the far end of the World, we absolutely must be beating them in Dublin. And beating them well.

It will require massive energy from the off, a positive attack as we saw in spots last night, and a fully engaged and raucous crowd who aren't doing choreographed thunder-claps and stacking beer cups in the corner.

At that stage La Rochelle had secured second place in the league, there's no material difference between finishing first and second as they both get a home run to the final, so there was nothing at stake in their game. Leinster on the other hand put out a team that allowed Frank Murphy to tip the balance. And then obviously lost in Europe as well. It was a mistake.

ROG's decision shows that in an ideal scenario he also felt you rest your top guys the week before the final.

Cullen prioritised the CC final and took the risk with the URC. Despite Munster playing well and Murphy being Murphy Leinster were only a missed drop goal from winning the match.

I disagreed with Cullen at the time and in hindsight I'm still in the camp that it was a mistake. My issue here was with it being called 'badly wrong', when in the end it was marginal.

Might be a bit precious of me, but I very much dislike the tone being set by certain Irish rugby reporters. They'll always find an angle that allows them to talk down.

For the last few years it's been about Leinster bottling the finals when they've sailed through every other game and been untested. But after Leinster have been tested away to La Rochelle, away to Leicester, at home against a powerful Bulls side, they're now "limping" into the QF.

Sorry but what is the age limit on a junior ticket please ?

The media doesn't affect me or the team. I suppose. Click bait crap. I chuckle though when they say this player or player x must leave Leinster, for the benifit of Ireland and then laud these provinces when they do well, even though there's Leinster lads throughout the squad. Lol. Serious gowels the lot of them. Is there any decent reporter?

It's not checked you just scan at turnstile which is automated and not checked after that

Veering into Kevin Keegan territory here, but I'm desperate for Leinster to beat La Rochelle next weekend.

The lies peddled by ROG and Alldritt in the aftermath of the final really left a bitter taste.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,349 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

It is really embarrassing for them. The medals will been seen as making it all worth it but a sad way to live.

Imagine after winning your trophy and in the aftermath rather than celebrating you're crying over the level of eye contact given during the coin toss and a bunch of other imagined slights in the build-up.

Will chuckle away with whatever nonsense ROG comes out with this week.

They should stick them in a chip van for pre and post match obligations and have the team bus suffer some Scotland type diversion en route.

ROG is a dose. Encapsulation of everything wrong about Cork. Lovely city, but full of opinionated dic#heads. Lost a lion's series all on his own.…and cost me a good few quid in the process...fkn dope.

There's a reason even Munster don't play big games in Cork..lol

ROG has become Eddie Jones lite.

I hope they spend the whole **** week working on clearances. Two finals in a row we shot ourselves in the feet with both barrels. Sick of it.

Two adults, four kids, front row of the upper stand on the 10m line - 140 euro.

I know they have to incentivise buyers with the short turnaround time but that is serious value, fair play Leinster.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,595 ✭✭✭techdiver

Echo what many are saying here. Whilst somewhat forced with the short turnaround, it is great to see such value for a Quarter Final of a European Cup in what is the glamour tie of the round.

I wonder what numbers are they expecting. From the ticket sale it looks like the upper west has not been released at all so seems it will be empty for the match. I do think this extra round of knockout games takes away from the knockouts in general. If this game was lined up for the last couple of months it would easily be a sell out. Fingers crossed they sell as many as possible. 5.30pm kick off is perfect too.

You’d have to imagine upper west is only sold if the rest of the stadium sells out. Can’t be seen by the cameras, was empty on Saturday anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,595 ✭✭✭techdiver

Oh yeah, understand that. It was more an observation about expectation about potential sales. You'd imagine if they were confident of a sell-out it would be on sale from the start. As I said hopefully they sell as many as possible.

I'd say they'd be aiming for over 40k, with maybe over 45k being a bonus.

The Leicester game was plannable a long way out, and occurred at the end of a school break

They were atrocious against Leicester. I don't know why we go long when they're just going to run the ball back at us. James Lowe also had an off day and we didn't use Jamie Osborne once to kick the ball, who has a boot just as good as Lowe. Hopefully we switch to kicking to compete, using box kicks in our 22 and then when we are just in our own half using the Boks special with the out half sending up a huge kick at their wings and apply pressure.

If we kick half as badly as we did against Leicester it will be difficult to win the game, scoring a try was almost painful because I knew the **** clearances were coming.
