Not nearly as many children though. Israel has killed more children than all the wars put together since 2018.

Why should the ceasefire only be conditional to one side, Netanyahu has already said a surrender wouldn't guarantee a ceasefire and he's determined to go into Rafah.

Have you called for a ceasefire (from both sides)? Have you called for Israel to release the hostages they are holding?

"Have you called for Israel to release the hostages they are holding?"

Why reward Hamas for their behaviour?

Prior to October 7th Israel was fond of selective detention without cause and/or justification i.e. hostages.

Why reward Israel for their behaviour prior to and after October 7th?

Hamas attacked, slaughtered, took hostages, and gloried in it online. You suggest rewarding it? Have a word with yourself.

(I take it your ok with Israel's antics prior to Oct 7th then)

All you who don’t call for a Hamas/Palestine surrender are terrorist sympathisers. Disgusting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

So, you ARE ok with rewarding Hamas? And encouraging further depravity?

Remind me, how are adjudicated murderers 'hostages?'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Suckler

The fact you simply refer to Hamas/Palestine under the one label shows the depth of your knowledge of the situation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Suckler

Of course the pertinent point you make is the same part that invalidates it - "adjudicated"; many aren't subject to any sort of legal process..therefore they are hostages of a hostile state. But your ok with that? Have a word with yourself indeed.

You dont want to recognise the depth of the situation. Just after Oct 7th is all the info you need.

Thank you - I do know a lot about the situation indeed.

So Hamas should release all hostages but Isreal should hold onto the thousands of hostages they hold?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,339 ✭✭✭Iscreamkone

You terrorist sympathisers are great fun tonight. Must be the Ramadan/Easter mix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,534 ✭✭✭Suckler

This is the limit of your argument and understanding, you’re out of steam so you resort to unfounded “terrorist sympathiser” jibes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,339 ✭✭✭Iscreamkone

”unfounded” - sure it is x

Israel has been doing that for many years as well as stealing Palestinian land.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

So, keep rewarding them? Or is this some way for you to feel good about your support for Hamas.

Same question for you that Suckler ran from: should convicted murderers be freed?

In the Hasbara mind we are all antisemites and terrorist supporters if we don't agree with every action of Israel's.

It's interesting, because prior to Israel being set up zionism was very much a minority stream within European judaism.

Much more important was the Bund - a socialist movement. It was no accident that Jews were heavily involved in Europe's Socialist and Communist parties; even the Zionists in Israel had to pretend to be socialists, which is why still today Israel has a "Labour" party because they wouldn't have been able to attract many Europeans to Palestine without a pretence of being socialist.

But you hear very little about the Bund today. It has been written out of history, as though it never existed. I first heard of it when I read Marcel Möring's book In Babylon. Reading up on on the Bund, you get a better overview of the enormity of the lies spread by the Zionists.

There are very many prisoners in Israeli who have had no trial including many children, So they have no convictions.

My concern is not for Hamas but for the innocent people of Gaza who are being bombed, shot, starved and sent from their homes only to be bombed again. The hospitals have no medicine to even treat them properly and I heard a doctor the other morning describe how a very badly 8 year old girl had to die in awful pain lying on a floor in a crowded room.

That's who I support. The innocent. 33,000 women and children dead in this murderous Israeli campaign for land. And I don't feel good about it at all, I feel angry.

You should prepare yourself cos in a few short years Ramadan and Christmas overlap, the amount of faux outrage is going to be amazing to see.

Gotcha. No innocents on the Israeli side warrant your support. Murderers of Israelis are OK to release then. Thanks for clarifying.

By calling for an IDF ceasefire you are rewarding Hamas/Palestine for their terrorism. ANYTHING other than an unconditional surrender is a reward for terrorism and shouldn’t be tolerated.
So continue with your jihadi bingo shouting genocide, apartheid, fascist state - but it’s all bullsh*t propaganda in my opinion.

Hamas/Palestine must be defeated or forced to surrender.

Haha is that the extent of your reading. Laughable. Keep dancing to the tune of the bombs and the cries of the children.

It must be a two-way street if there's to be a successful peace and no future attacks, surely you understand that?.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Of course. Releasing murderers from prison shouldn't be part of that.

Once Hamas returns the hostages and surrenders, there'll be progress.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,339 ✭✭✭Iscreamkone

I don’t believe that you will ever get a successful peace. The Palestinians won’t ever be happy until they wipe out the Jews, thus they won’t ever be happy.

There's some amount of culture change, reparations and reconciliation required before anybody gets near wiping out anyone else if there's to be a respectful civilised peace in time.

“We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality.” George Orwell.

MOD: It's been an interesting exercise to watch this mini-Gaza conflict develop.

There's extremist views on both sides. Truth becomes what you want it to be. Inconvenient realities are ignored.

Most with moderate or balanced views have left, and this could rumble on for ages with no progress being made or possible.

    Now,

Firstly, I want the "Hamas/Palastine" equivalence to stop. I understand how the two could be shoved together but there is a difference and sometimes that different is important.

By the same token, all Israelis can't be assumed to think/act the same either.

Using specific examples and taking them as generalities isn't accurate.

Secondly, this is a discussion thread for discussion or argument. It's not a place for insulting those who don't agree with you. There's always going to some that don't, or won't, ever. Ignore, move on.

The thread was started to be a thread for the regulars of this particular forum to discuss world events.

F&F is more a community of people with a common interest rather than a forum for the discussion of agriculture-related threads.

    We accept visitors, within reason.

However, if no locals are posting, the thread has been populated by noisy squabbling outsiders and has generally lost it's purpose then I'll close it.

This is not a UN resolution with no power, or ICC adjudication with no ability to be enforced.

    Improve the level of discussion!

The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress. Joseph Joubert

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It's to promote critical thinking.

Hamas are the elected government of this part of the world. They were elected by Palestinians.
After 07/10/23 Palestinians came out on to the streets of Gaza and cheered their disgusting actions.
In my opinion it is perfectly acceptable to link Hamas and Palestine.

But as per your request I will refrain from doing so again.
