Looks nice. Good price point too. Looks to be about the same size as Kia niro.

@JustAPoorDreamer The front is hideous to be honest.

As an aside, what do you currently drive yourself?

This car along with the Cupra Raval and ID.2 look really impressive propositions. The target entry price is €25k and will make them very attractive to singles, young families and retirees.

VW Golf sized interiors in VW Polo sized cars will be a big selling point and they should be well performing cars.

When I say the headline for the post I read it as Skoda Epig 😕

Now that I've seen it I think that suits. I'm with @Jim_Hodge , hideous front

Looks like a fcuking snow plough. Very strong loader vibes from the front.

Is it not just a more expensive variant of the ID.Polo ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 424 ✭✭tppytoppy

Usefully larger inside and SUV shaped for school run.

Acc and keyless start were mentioned in some reviews. 50 kw charging in base model will reduce it to only occasional long journeys but doesn't limit it entirely to town. One of the reviewers was about 1m92 cm and fitted comfortably in the back so it is certainly larger than a Renault 4. It looks like if you need this type of car it will be a fight between the Kia and Skoda salesman as to who wants to win your business.

A little underwhelming to say the least.

€33k for the cheapest 56kWh version doesn't on the face of it appear to be great value.

Anything I have ever seen trying to be a great value EV always only makes sense as a value purchase in its lowest spec...pick the higher spec and its into the prices of cars in the class above it.

Top spec is 50% higher than base model.

Take your pick, epiq, Renault 4 and 5, kia ev2 and ev3 can all get quite expensive with the bigger battery, more power and all the spec

Can be hard to get hold of the good value base spec cars too, availability never great

    Ms

Rather disapointing really. I think mist peopke knew what it would mostly look like days ago. Skoda can make great csrs and no doubt this will be great and maybe it will look better out on the roads but I find that dash and the rear styling boring. Also what is it with putting Skoda on the side now? Any other manufacturer do that?

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Not a lot of value there for an ID.Polo on stilts ? Maybe those prices are exclusive of the SEAI grant for private customers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,378 ✭✭✭Exiled Rebel

There or thereabouts with the trade-in discount included.

Read somewhere else that they are inclusive. Very expensive for a well specced bigger battery one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,501 ✭✭✭Old diesel

Part of what's making the big battery look expensive is that its not available on the lower spec cars.

On the trims that do have the big battery option the price premium for the big battery is around 3,200 euros.

I'd imagine you'd get a small battery Elroq for the price of the big battery Epiq. Pricing seems wrong to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 660 ✭✭✭Moreilly

pricing does seem odd the vw polo is around £25k in the uk and €20k here with grants on various channels on youtube, But the Epic is quoted about £25k in UK but €25k with grants here, maybe I'm missing something ?

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Smaller cars often look expensive compared to larger ones - even going back to my early driving days in the 90s, a secondhand micra or corsa would have been very close to an escort or kadett in price - but given they were popular with young new drivers due to lower insurance they seemed to hold their value better.

I guess some people just like smaller cars so the aim is to maximise profit when targeting that segment
