yeah same here, they were cleaned out. Lots of pineapple chunks beside them on the empty shelf but no melon chunks, hopefully next time.

Did anyone manage to find last weeks fun sized pears on the Parkrun code in their Lidl? I must have been in 4 times and could find conference pears and loose pears but there was never any fun sized pears. Couldnt even see a label on the shelf for where they should have been.

Couldn't find the pears so have yet another bottle of honey in the press 🤣 will all be used though

No pears on my first trip but I found them on my second. They were also called Koala pears.

TBH I haven't been to Lidl twice within the same week in ages. This change to a €10 spend to get a scratch card has made me vote with my feet. And the claim of a min spend for better scratch card prizes was total bullshit. My last 2 were a pastry and 30% off particular chef select products , ready meals etc

for me the poor offers on lidl plus and also the poor scratch cards have pushed me over to aldi most of the time now

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Ya at first I was spending a bit extra to get the scratchcard , but have got 30% off something I don't buy too many times now, so won't be in the future

Same as above. I don't do a "big shop" but would be in at least three times a week. Since they stopped doing fire stuff I never really go over the tenner excluding alcohol.

I have found Aldi to offer the best pricing of all the supermarkets, and often a little cheaper than Lidl. I suspect it's just that Lidl have been slow to drop their prices back down again, e.g. canned sweetcorn, sultanas, peanuts...

Food seems to be costing me less in there, super 6 offers are good

My local has stopped doing the 0.40, 1.10, 2.20 stickered food. Now 50% off sticker on date of expiry

Aldi are losing market share, so it wouldn't surprise me that they are trying some price competition. None near me unfortunately.

Alcohol is included in the required tenner spend in my experience.

Bought two of the red wine on offer for €19.98 today (and nothing else except a few freebies) and got a scratch card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,584 ✭✭✭✭thesandeman

Oh 😯. I was pretty sure it isn't. I'll be in for my Parkrun freebie during the week and give it a try.

  • Moderators, Regional South Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 6,137 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quackster

Yeah, I was sure it wouldn't be but it's happened me several times now in recent weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 849 ✭✭✭EarWig

Yes, but you must buy something other than alcohol.

They probably do have some limit like €1 on the other stuff.

  • Moderators, Regional South Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 6,137 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quackster

Nope, my spend yesterday was entirely on alcohol. Nothing else.

So maybe they just have to make sure MUP isn't violated.

Last 2 scratch cards have been 30% off some frozen food stuff. My partner was looking forward to his free pastry! Do they go through a week where treat is a certain thing or is there any pattern to it.

Would also be interested to hear on this. I think my last two treats were also the 30% off ones, but the good news is that the next treat is nice if you're into chocolate! Mind you, the cost is probably under €1 but still it's free...

Used to have 5 or 6 that they went through sequentially for the month, since the min spend I think they been more random. Not as if they were ever worth especially going there for anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,903 ✭✭✭Nollog

I doubt anyone will bother to find the pattern if there even is one with the tenner minimum now.

I got the free chocolate scratch card last week. This week I got the 30% off chef select. I thought with the 10 euro minimum spend they would either stick to free items under a euro or continue with the one euro off your next shop. Lidl plus peaked when you got an item each time you scanned

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 849 ✭✭✭EarWig

Yes, Lidl have lost the plot. There are far smarter ways to shop.

This week’s coupon code is PARKRUN953 and will allow you a choice between our mango and pineapple chunks to help fuel you for, or recover from, your weekly parkrun.

Yes, I first noticed that in my local one on St Patrick's Day. I actually thought that the lack of 'Waste Not €1.10' etc stickers must have been due to them being short-staffed that morning. Then a day or so later I realised that they'd swapped the Waste Nots for the 50% orange stickers, and I was very disappointed!

I'd been buying almost all of my meat and poultry via 'Waste Not' - freezing quite a lot of it. I got some Waste Not fish that was okay, but one pack of cod was definitely not good, so I avoided the fish from then on.

'Waste Not' was also great for things like the packs of Chicken Tikka etc, getting them for a third of the real price. And a chicken for €1.10 was brilliant - we'd get a nice dinner that day, and the cat would get a chicken supper for 5 days - actually cheaper than the basic pet food he gets.

I was kind of hoping that Lidl might revert to the old Waste Not system.
