Yeah but TFG will stay at rear, as the bone spurs won't allow him to get near the action!

So obvious that Trump had to send a spokesman out to clarify the remarks!

"Is this where society is now?"

Basically, yes. Looking at it a bit more closely, there are a few things going on, here. Big chunks of the population here throughout the West have never seen their living standards recover since the 2008 recession and that's on top of local industry having been gutted since the mid 20th century. In short, austerity has created a reservoir of anger that's ripe for populists to tap into. It's an anger the political centre has been unable to, or refused to, deal with in a real and effective manner, pushing people toward political extremism. It's something we've seen happen before.

At the same time, people have never had easier access to information, but by the same token have never had easier access to misinformation and disinformation which, conveniently enough, caters very specifically to their pre-existing biases and prejudices.

Capitalism has a bit of a role to play, here, as well. News networks in the states and throughout the world have bombarded us with a 24 hour news cycle and social media sites have an insatiable thirst for clicks. Chatter about Trump's insanity is so constant that it has become normalised. If we were still in the world of newspapers and nightly news bulletins, reports of him being under federal indictments would carry far more weight. Now, it's just an afterthought.

In a way, we kind of did this to ourselves, but we didn't know what we were doing at the time.

What are you talking about? Mad? Whataboutism?

Looking at the video in your link again, the clip is pretty shocking obviously. It's supposed to be.

The irony of the woman after saying that it was unclear what Trump was referring to. Yes, it's unclear when you remove the context. Here's the context before it: https://youtu.be/_7gJxku_BYM?t=1838

He's clearly referring to the auto industry and the second definition here: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/bloodbath

As I said before, Trump says a lot of awful stuff so it's frustrating to see a whirlwind being fabricated.

Ah yes, it is everyone else's fault for listening to what Trump says and taking those words to mean what they say.

As usual. Everyone has to give Trump licence as he clearly can't be expected to actually say what he means.

Did he expand on this Auto makers bloodbath? What will happen if Biden continues in office to start this bloodbath and what is Trump going to do to avoid it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,858 ✭✭✭✭everlast75

Yes, the "bloodbath" referred to the auto industry....

In a speech which started off calling Jan 6 prisoners "hostages" and praising what they did.

“Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole — That’s going to be the least of it,” said Trump. “It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.”

the whole country, not “the auto industry” and “that’s going to be the least of it”

I assumed he was saying two things at once.Using the auto industry to get in his threat to cause violence if he did not win the election.

I can't see how "bloodbath" would be appropriate language to use for when (he says) an industry is in trouble.

Did the miners (Scargill) threaten anything like a "bloodbath" scenario at the time even though that actually happened ?

He is just shoehorning violent language whenever he can because he thinks it works for him.

In his "speech" he did apply "bloodbath " to the industry and then clarified that he was talking about the "country" as well.

What do they about him? Believe it when he says it the first time.

I think he flies kites and if it works he goes with it and hardly ever retracts unless it is obviously not in his interest.

I see he has now "admitted" that Putin was "probably involved" in the death of Navalny.

    I wonder why?

Of course we know that Putin murdered Navalny ,but Trump loves the uneducated, from his own boastful lips.

    Fuller story here.

Bond underwriters being very clear, they don't want properties as collateral, it's cash or equivalents only.

If the actuaries at the underwriters don't trust a billionaire? Why should anyone else. I saw his gofundme has also died a death too.

Who can blame them? A case that revealed Trump's properties were already overvalued has made them toxic. What a fool.

So, if you can't post a bond, or pay or appeal - what then? Even in a civil case could someone can't or won't pay go to jail? In theory cos ain't happening with Trump of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,658 ✭✭✭✭banie01

Oh I fully agree, no trust whatsoever should be placed in any valuation proffered by Trump. The bond he is seeking is to cover a case that's seen him already convicted of fraud and financial misrepresentation over decades.

If he can't offer liquid assets as a guarantee nor find someone willing to assume the bond risk? Tough.

If he can't post the bond required for appeal, the plaintiff can seek immediate action including asset seizure. E Jean Carroll has won the case. If Trump wants to appeal? He's gotta pay to play. If he doesn't? Enforcement and seizure would follow.

That auto Industry excuse is just ridiculous. He also spoke about the election being rigged. He's a dangerous lunatic.

I wasn’t aware the auto industry even held elections. /s

No one will under write the bond because they know he's not good for it. They also know that the net profits from selling his properties won't cover it either which is why they won't accept them as collateral.

    Billionaire my arse...

NY should just seize everything and I mean everything, and fire sale the lot.

Likely won't cover the entire amount but as long as they take every single penny he has it won't really matter.

falling for the latest hoax, lol, its funny at this stage

It's not been a great day in Trump world has it. The NY hush money and election interference pre trial motions were resolved today, and not a lot for Don to be cheerful about.

Navarro's plea to SCOTUS is denied in 1 page order by Roberts

In denying Navarro’s request on Monday, Roberts agreed with the appeals court finding that Navarro had given up the right at this stage to challenge the District Court’s conclusion that executive privilege was not invoked.

    See ya tomorrow Peter!

I can't imagine any asset seizure is going to happen fast. Of course, he might magically come up with enough to cover the bond by the deadline.

Mark Levin demands to know why Republican billionaires aren’t bailing out Trump (wouldn’t that be somewhat… socialist?)
