Sounds like a load of shite to say to someone. You make them a good enough tackler. At the very least, you'd say to someone you have vision and touch and passing ability and we need you in goals. You're not a good enough tackler is ridiculous.

I seem to remember Casey being absolutely septic against Dublin in a Walsh cup game circa 2022, he was the frees too (think Dublin beat them by 15 points). Pretty sure he got some league games too as a sub. Could be wrong.

He won a load of ball ; aggressive and an eye for goal. Goalie my a**e.

To be fair I think we have more pressing concerns in Waterford than worrying about the Wexford goalie options.. ..take this to the Wexford forum!!

That narrative is more about Davy.

Anyway, let's move on to the Kilkenny match ; they need to win to secure a place in the League final/semis ?

'Dead Rubber' game for Waterford, Davey will probably just give some game time to those who haven't featured to date, maybe the Sub-Goalie will get a run etc...........are they not jetting off for warm weather training in a couple of weeks so he will hardly be bothered getting a result?

Anyone know what time the game on Saturday is on..........?

Fitzgerald is right about one thing. Waterford could lose on Saturday by 20pts, if they beat Cork & Tipp in Munster nobody will care.

They are mutually exclusive, we saw the value of the league for us in 2022.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

At this stage with relegation guaranteed and confidence already shattered how does it matter how much they are defeated by on Saturday……..?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭Asdfgh2020

unfortunately there is little in fact zero evidence to date to suggest that these victories could materialise……😡

Correct, although financially playing in 1B is going to be blow. With championship so close to league it is nice to get a competitive game or two in before the championship.

It's all on the Cork game, win that are the ball is in our court, loose it and the pressure mounts massively. A decent league and defeat to cork belief would be there to turn things around, the poor league and defeat to cork and the negativity will be off the charts.

If we get out of Munster we'll all be delighted, if we don't we'll look at two years wasted and a dismal lower division to look at next year.

Tbh if we lose that Cork game it's curtains for the year as it would mean we'd need a result up in Limerick and/or Ennis (not to mention needing to also beat Tipp) and at this moment in time I'd confidently bet the mortgage on getting nothing from those two games.

Lose that Cork game and our championship will be over at 6pm on the 21st April. We've had some dire years the last few but that would probably be a new low. The worst part is that it's nearly half expected.

Firstly sorry to the Waterford supporters I'm sure you've little interest in this reply.

Anyway yes Casey did play in that Walsh Cup game, he was poor but we were woeful in general that night, we actually beat Limerick in the league the following week, if anything encapsulated Wexford over the last number of years this is it. His best showing for Wexford prior to this year was a league game versus yourselves in 2019.

I remember limerick being beaten by clare in a league qf or maybe a sf yrs ago and at home, they absolutely hockied us and we turned it around and beat cork in cork a few weeks later. It can be done I genuinely believe Waterford have too many good hurlers to be written off though I do see the concern with the tactics negativity etc.

    Championship is all that matters

Waterford News & Star — U-20 hurlers ramp up championship preparations | Waterford News & Star (waterford-news.ie)

The 20's had a challenge win over Wexford the weekend, the article mentions they also played challenge games against Galway, Kilkenny and Offaly (twice). Anyone know how they went in those games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,723 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Why didn't they put the under 20 challenge game vs Wexford in Walsh Park as the curtain raiser for the Senior game like Cork did a few weeks back

Lads going ape over the league 😂 has it not dawned on many of ye yet that the Portugal training camp was booked months in advance hence why we don't want to advance in the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,768 ✭✭✭decies

It’s nothing to do with advancing in the league we got the complete opposite relegation ,at the very best it’s still clueless stuff like last years league campaign which set us for a championship disaster . Now the first couple of championship games the pressure is going to be racked up more if things are not going well on the pitch . Everybody knows it’s all about the championship but to get us relegated just looks downright sloppy and to be honest Waterford hurling at all levels is not strong enough to be putting up with more setbacks . There’s a massive amount more then for a long time at stake these upcoming months. Not to mention here we are very belatedly with a New Jersey that can’t even be purchased online yet , a new supporters club that’s switched the team announcement from a text service to a email service . Huge few months ahead with a lot at stake .

Have Tipperary not won 3 underage All Irelands since Waterford last won one?

Anyone else hear that there was an argument between Davy and tadgh during the week out in the wit arena supposedly the players have enough of Davy

    True that.

Though it doesn't look like the 2018-19 Under 20/21 teams are at the same level as the group that backboned the 3 senior All Irelands in the 2010s.

Early days for the recent minor team aswell but they don't look as strong as Limerick, Cork, Clare in the years ahead.

    Time will tell of course.

2 weeks after Suir Engineering announced and still no gear available on Azzuri website. That company is a bigger joke than the Co Board

Lads does anyone here know if the wheelchair section in Walsh park is covered or uncovered? I have tickets for Saturday but weather is looking bit rubbish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,093 ✭✭✭914

I think the wheelchair section on the new terrace has a cover, but I'm not sure how to access it, can't recall seeing a ramp by the steps. (Maybe it's accessible from the city end)

The part in the stand definately isn't covered as the roof only covers about 8 rows, always lazy planning that, never understand why wheelchair areas are mainly in the rain, factor in a ramp that takes you into shelter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,093 ✭✭✭914

Have you not seen the rain that we are after having? I'd imagine that reduces the chance of having a double header and the lack of 4 proper dressing rooms

I have only been to the north stand where they have them with curved dugout covers. Think both sides have them similar but the wheelchair section in the old stand is a bit lower on the sideline I think because of the existing stand structure so your view might be limited by the barrier & ad boards.

Like previously said, I think you have to go through the city end terrace to get to the north stand section with a wheelchair but it's probably a better viewing experience.

This where the players stayed in the dressing room for three quarters of an hour and left the manager out on the pitch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 346 ✭✭Montys return

The years they may change, but the rumours stay the same.
