I am really impressed by Peadair Tobin and his party policies ,hopefully he gets a few like minded individuals to join his party and they offer a alternative to the rest of the gombeen political parties in this state !!
Hopefully not, they are mental fringe lunatic populists appealing to the dumbest voters we have
No he didn't say Labour
Yet in yesterdays referendum they were the only political party that repersented the view of the majority of people in this country ???
The majority of people who voted. Not the majority of people.
Yet they opposed the Marriage equality and Repeal the 8th referendums, so you could argue that they are completely out of step with the people.
Peadair Tobin thinks he can decide what every woman in this country decides to do with their body.
For me, that would make him an automatic NO for me.
Also seen a loon from his party in action in Derry, so definitely not.
Well, they are a left wing party so maybe you're right!
I'm fairly sure Labour was the party that have us the Marriage Referendum I'm 2015.l and it was carried fairly well.
However in 2016 they faired fairly badly in the General Election.
Providing anything isn't to extreme.
Referendums are sort of forgotten about.
I would say their stance on moderating asylum immigration is probably the only thing the masses agree with.
For as long as they remain a religion fuelled basket case, anti abortion etc, they wont get anywhere.
He thinks that women should not end the lives of their children. Now you may not agree with him, but there is a clear rationale for such a moral stance.
The woman in Derry was a loon, and was thrown out of the party. We have loons among us, alas.
I fear they may be the Sinn Fein of the next election with not enough candidates and a massive opportunity lost
How did this post get 6 thanks so far?
The claim was that Aontu "repersented the view of the majority of people in this country" which is incorrect - all the result means is that Aontu had the same view as the majority who voted (and they don't necessarily represent those peoples view either)
That's nonsense. Those who didn't bother voting do not care in my opinion. I'm no fan of Aontu. Far from it.
Those who voted, voted in a large majority. That's all that is relevant today.
....
You should toddle on to your closest garda and report all those killed children🙄
thats a silly argument tbh.
not cast a vote is a vote of abstaining . The made their choice clear.
He would do well had he joined FF and taken Michael Martin to task from the get go, he'd be leader in no time. Toibins politics is classic old FF
He's far too left wing Economically for me
I can't, it has been legalised.
Toibin is a contrarian.
Had the government lobbied for a NO NO vote he'd have been YES YES, YES NO /NO YES, etc...
Regarding Aontú overall, Peadar will have to weed out the unsavoury characters from the party if he ever wants to have electoral success.
He'll be talking into the wind again after the next election.
Especially in the context of referendum to change it is fine not to change things on a small turnout, as the it can be reasonably said that the others did not want change enough to actually vote. A referendum with a small margin for change on limited turnout is less clear.
As said above this is a standalone vote..it's not a vote for or against any parties or groups. This is the case with all referendums really when you look back at it.
Those suggesting either way that a no vote from a person makes them an Aontu supporter or anything similar are just daft.
Varadkar has admitted they couldn't convince people of the need for this referendum in the first instance let alone clarify the outcomes of it and they ultimately are why the majority who voted voted against it.
As for those who didn't vote. Don't really care about them. No excuses for not voting and yet consistently there's forty percent or more of the electorate who don't vote for whatever reason.
...can you show us the results of your conversations with all of those folks that didnt vote please, not that we dont believe you or anything, but....
No it hasn't lad. Come back to reality
Child killing has not, nor ever will be, legalised.
No it will be redefined.
Ya no bother. I'll put it into a document and pm it to you.
Don't be ridiculous. All we can go on in any election/referendum is those who vote. That's democracy.
And I'm pretty sure that in any referendum, those who really advocate a change, come out to vote. So, if in the totally unlikely case that 100% of people voted, I would be fairly certain that the total NO vote would be higher than today's total.
Christ still people at this.
If people had the opposite view to the result wtf didnt they vote?
I didnt meet many in my travels that werent of the opinion this was a pile of ill thought out bolox so Im not sure why if the majority of people disagreed and thought it was in fact a good idea didnt get out and vote
At best if they werent opposed id be of the opinion they thought it was meaningless twaddle ... imo
Unless their children go on to work for the British government then killing them is fair game.
