Unremarkable is very generous, it was dour hoofball sh1te from both teams. We had Plan A, kick it at the cb's, and Plan B, kick it at the cb's.

Don't think it was a pen, but hard to see from where I was sitting. Ye saw the game out well by wasting time and going down with multiple head injuries. Both teams could have been there another year and not troubled either keeper.

It will be interesting to see the handball on the highlights. The arm seemed outstretched.

Dour is fair but it seemed like a tough night to play ball.

You could see the scoreless draw coming from about 10 mins in!

If Jarvis hadn't have taken the penalty (for me looked stonewall) you could have told me he wasn't playing and I'd have believed you.

Was expecting John O'Sullivan to turn in a MOTM performance but looks like we are being proven right about him. He was on a big wedge and Bohs and by all accounts is at Shels as well but he's not up to it at all.

0-0 written all over it until the penalty and typical set piece defending from Bohs.

    Devine's days are numbered.

Was very disappointed in Waterford tonight. I expected them to be better considering some of their results.

But I think we didn't let them play. It was an excellent 1st half from us. Second half a bit of a formality, especially after the red card.

If we can keep Hoban fit, you just never know. But 2 more players injured again tonight, we just have no luck with injuries.

Ya we started very well and ye scrambled a couple of half chances away well, felt if didn't get ine then it was gonna be ine if those nights. One of the lads on our forum reckoned it may have been a pen too so I'll have to see the highlights, wont take long. One goal would have won that hands down for either side.

Jarvis was quiet enough in fairness, but his moments of magic have been the difference in all other games so far.

He's not long back from injury either. He's just bedding in nicely and getting going

He had a few moments to be fair, a nice dribble through midfield and a cut back that led to a half chance for Shels.

Neither team were great but Shels were in control throughout I thought.

    Who will replace Devine?

The phoenix is on the gates of Tolka. From the ashes, the giants of Irish football are rising once more. Risen from the dead, to reclaim what's ours!

I actually thought Jarvis was really good in a scrappy game that rarely broke into a football match. Don’t think O’Sullivan would have been subbed if it wasn’t for the yellow. He’s been good for us so far, but it didn’t happen as much for him tonight.

3 clean sheets in a row. Can’t get much better than that. Inchicore will be our toughest test yet.

Made harder work of tonight than we should have but we deserved to win against Dundalk tonight. Really should have scored a 2nd goal in the 2nd half but we did give Dundalk too much space at times in the 2nd half which allowed them some threatening shots from outside the box which all went wide thankfully. Turner and Lennon had very good games. Rogers started instead of Pitaluga in goal and bar one blocked down kick in the 1st half was solid.

Dundalk looked OK in attack but lacking a goal scoring forward. They look a mess with the highline in defence. Horgan really looked a shadow of his former self tonight.

I call Jarvis the "magic man". We haven't actually played that well in any of our games so far, professional performances, but a few of his deft touches were the difference in opening up defences. That natural class and finesse he possesses is invaluable

Just wait till he really gets going

Controversial to suggest Devine might not be as close to the door as people think?

For those who thought he should have gone in November, you’ve gotten all the confirmation bias you required over the last week.

For those who backed him and decided he was the man to take Bohs into the future and this season, 4 points from 4 games probably isn’t enough just yet to convince you to admit you were wrong on that.

Youd almost be more worried about those who make the decisions at Bohs conviction in their decisions if they were sacking him now.

There's little or no support for him amongst the fan base at this stage. One more league win and the cup final away from Europe is what kept him in place, but the trend is only going one way.

If he's still in charge going into the second tranch of games I'd be very surprised.

There’s a tendency to be able to pick up enough wins here and there to be able to keep the wolves away though.

Hard to see much success on the horizon against Derry or Rovers, so I reckon ultimately those 2 games against the promoted teams will determine whether he’s still in charge by the time you visit us (which is weirdly soon to be playing again after only 4 games)

Very much a case of “never mind the quality, feel the win” last night for Pats. Having said that, we looked better with the back four, and a new keeper. The changes I was hoping Jon Daly would make, though they were pretty obvious really. Luke Turner was excellent, including one great goal saving challenge in the box. Jamie Lennon very good too, and Ruairi Keating played well I thought. Dundalk had a good chance late on, with a shot that went just wide, with the keeper nowhere. Was a bit nervy near the end and I was afraid we’d concede late on again.

Shels next week will be a big challenge. Not sure we’ll have the firepower to break them down. Could do with a big game from Chris Forrestor.

Nobody really thinks Shels are winning the league

I do, but you should probably consider my support the kiss of death.

Nothing we’ve done so far has put us ahead of the 4 in a row champions IMO. Derry also have resources that we don’t. Duffer is the only reason we’re even really in the conversation at all.

In defence of Jarvis, the Dalymount pitch is not suitable for anyone trying to dribble.

Shels weren't great, but we love giving nonsense goals away.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Fine away win for City, top of the league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,075 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Another poor result for Rovers.

Giving the rest if us hope again this season, or just lulling us into a false sense of security again?

Sligo a tough place to get 3pts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,099 ✭✭✭CrabRevolution

Feels very similar to last year, where Rovers only got 5 points from their first 6 games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,819 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

I'll begrudgingly accept leaving the showgrounds disappointed not to beat the current champions I suppose. Cleary made a great goal line clearance but Chapman should have finished it. If he shot anywhere else but straight at Cleary he scores. Pöhls lucky not to be sent off for that tackle on Power as well.

Really let them off the hook tonight and should have won it. Nice of Johnny Kenny to bottle the 2 chances Burke put on a plate for him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,819 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Shams have been winning the league by default the past few years with every potential challenger bottling it. Duffer hasn't built a team of bottlers. Everything else has been said about them: Well drilled, run themselves into the ground, tough to break down/solid defensively. At this level that's enough to pick up a lot of points. I really think they'll be right up there come September if they stay healthy and maybe add a bit of quality in the summer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,157 ✭✭✭✭CSF

All of this is true, and yet, we’ve now won 3 games in a row where we haven’t actually been creating that many chances (we were fantastic in the 4th win before that against Rovers in the first half and could have been more than 2 up by the time they came into the game).

Maybe we will keep winning tight games defensively. But we still need to show that we can create long spells of attacking dominance with a high volume of quality chances. I think we will improve in this regard with players like Jarvis, Burt, Smith and Boyd in attacking areas, there is no reason we can’t click going forward aswell.

If we do that we will 100-% be in the conversation because we’ll always be tough to beat under Duff.

Should have won that game and how the goalie stayed on the pitch is beyond me

and Bradley blatantly telling the keeper to pretend he was injured so he could have a team talk
