How to connect Dell PC to monitors?

Hi all,

I recently bought a Dell Optiplex 5060 MT and it arrived today but I'm having trouble connecting it to my monitors. I have a HDMI to USB-C adapter but when I plug this in nothing appears on the screen. Am I better off getting two HDMI to Display Port adapters?

Also, there is a slot on the back that you can push in, on Dell's website they call it an option slot and say it can be used for HDMI. How do these work?

The options slot is an 'optional extra' where you can add a card to give you additional connectivity.

But the 5060mt comes with 2 display port slots. OptiPlex 5060: Visual guide to your Computer | Dell Ireland

Check if your monitor has a display port connector and if it does a display port cable should sort you out.

If your monitor does not have display port connection then you need a HDMI->Display port adaptor which should work - but these can be a bit finikity. Best would be to go with the native functionality display port connection.

Thanks very much for the quick response. My monitors are HDMI only unfortunately so it will have to be an adaptor in that case. Are there any you would recommend?

You can just get display port to HDMI cables in that case.

They're often slightly cheaper, though barely. Otherwise adaptors should work fine.
