“SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh” sounds like it be a shop at the stadium, like SuperValu Grange, SuperValu Midleton, etc.

I don't understand the uproar about the name change. It's just a name. Never get attached to names or brands. Easy revenue stream for them.

I suppose taking away the name of the person the stadium was named after was never a good idea, like calling Páirc Uí Rinn, SuperValu Park, it would not go down well, hence the uproar with Pairc Uí Chaoimh.

Had they started with SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, I very much doubt anyone would really care. It is a good revenue stream and they do need it.

Does PUC take cash or is it card only?

Article in the Examiner about Munster Rugby using PUC more regularly. Apart from one-off games like there has been to dat, no plans to move regular games such as the Leinster match.

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/rugby/arid-41461150.html

“We’ve got a facility that we own and we’re trying to use it, as is our prerogative and so it’s a far more complicated conversation than simply ‘you’ll sell 14,000 more tickets’. I know we will, but the costs are significantly higher and we are in a situation where we are actually inconveniencing a lot of our core customers: our season ticket holders, our 10-year season ticket holders, our commercial partners.

“And I’m not saying it’s not achievable or it’s not realistic but it’s a very nuanced conversation and at the moment we’re cannibalising by taking one to the other, you know, it doesn’t automatically add €500,000 or €700,000 to our bottom line, which is the media narrative that’s sometimes out there. The financials aren’t compelling about moving an existing game, as things stand.”

Where do we reckon it's gonna be? Hardly on the pitch is it? Closest I get to info on the site is "Alpine Skate Trail is moving to Cork city and will be located in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh – yeah, an ice skating trail in Cork’s historic Gaelic Games stadium. Our trail will run through the North Stand concourse of the stadium and will be one of the most unique ice skating experiences ever created."

The skating is located under the North Stand, runs more or less the length of it. It is quite nice in fairness and well run. You will need to book in advance.

The Christmas Market is very nice also. It is free and located under the City End Terrace. There is no access between them. You have to walk around the outside to go from one to another. Pizza, noodles, burgers, crepes, coffee etc and a bar and the terrace toilets are open there too. Christmas music playing etc and it really creates a nice atmosphere. There are a few rides outside, bumpers etc too.
