Would you like eggs with your hot sauce?!

    Looks lovely.

Harissa oil, sundried tomatoes and feta. Worked really well together with the eggs. Grand job for a tenner. Your brekkie, however, was a masterpiece:-)

McDonalds for some cheap and nasty. Sausage and egg muffin and a hash brown. Sometimes the best job

    Oh you dirty bitch.

Been away for three nights in England, so been having dirty breakfasts all the way. Thankfully, the worst was a Tim Hortons, I avoided McDs. Local sandwich/cafes for the other two.

At this stage, I just want something simple, some cardboard and milk would work.

I still do sometimes miss the hashbrowns/breakfast from McDonalds though. They objectively awful, but ... yeah. Sometimes.

3 recent nights in England (Liverpool) for me as well. First morning involved a hangover and a dirty McD's breakfast as a result of me being up too early.

The other two breakfasts were extremely good, they do sausages very well over there. Expensive, but very good. Was taken aback by the gap in what was on offer, it seemed to be either very very cheap or quite expensive options... with very little in between. (E.g £5 for a breakfast in Wetherspoons versus just shy of £20 for a really good quality independent cafe).

Went with the more expensive options and didn't regret it.

For nearly £20 I would be expecting a serious breakfast!

They were serious breakfasts, had to queue up to get into this one.

Menu prices don't include drinks so with a tea and orange juice, it was just shy of £20. Nice experience but probably a bit OTT, the queue outside seemed a bit unnecessary as the place was by no means full / a marketing ploy more than anything.

Didn't take any photos but this is from the second place's fb page. It was slightly cheaper and a better all round breakfast. The fact that the toast came to the table buttered made me way happier than it really should.

Hash brown fans should try the Aldi ones that are packaged to resemble McDonald's, same range as the fries copy. They're really nice out of the airfryer.

On a semi-related note. Anyone else hate the triangular cut that places use for toast? If you're someone, like me, who likes to make sandwiches out of their breakfast materials, it's absolutely shite.

Yeah, I realise I can ask them to not/square cut it but still. It's a crap method of cutting regardless. It's a breakfast. Not a f*cking cucumber sandwich.

I'm the same, I always keep some bacon and egg for a sandwich at the end of eating the fry! I also keep 1 piece of toast and have marmalade on it at the very end!

Alright, that's the main thing missing from my home made version of the mcdonald's breakfast. Off to Aldi the weekend.

Breakfast today was half a soda farl, toasted and buttered and topped with a fried egg.

I haven't made a good fakeaway Sausage Egg McMuffin since Aldi stopped selling their wheat muffins, I can't find a decent one to buy and even homemade still isn't the same. I have 6 SuperQuinn sausage patties waiting in the freezer for a muffin!

The Aldi ones were perfect, and the Tesco frozen sausage patties (when they do them) cannot be beat, the superquinn ones are too fancy.

I'm satisfied with my homemade muffin recipe even if it's not trashy enough.

Haven't decided how authentic a mature easi single is/isn't

I found the Aldi ones perfect for the job. The 20 pack I find is nicer than the smaller pack for some reason or it could be just me! https://groceries.aldi.ie/en-GB/p-cheesy-singles-400g-emporium/4088600236803

Fish fingers and Christmas cake for breakfast? You must have a rock-hard constitution. 🫢

I can't get my head around pre buttered toast at all. Last cooked breakfast I had in the UK, they did this, too. If I recall correctly, my response was, "why the fcuk would anyone do this?". I was appalled! How could they know how much butter I want, or at what temperature I want my toast at when buttered, or even if I want butter at all? I don't understand it. I blame people like you for this travesty 😜

The triangular cut doesn't bother me at all. Lack of brown bread for toasting does, though.

You’re an absolute shocker tbr. Mrs G! is always going on about how bad I am when we go out to eat but I think she’ll agree with me on this one. My commiserations to the Mrs tbr. 😝

Oh, I didn't cause a scene, or even demand new toast. Just couldn't get my head around the logic of doing this. Main point being, what if I didn't want butter on my toast?

Some people seem to think that my dissatisfaction with food manifests itself in me roaring and shouting at servers in restraunts. I can assure you that it does not. I just like writing about food related things that, trivially annoy me and expressing my strongly held opinions.

Do people imagine me shouting at bacon medallions in the supermarket, bringing them to the manager demanding that they are taken off the shelf?

Most restraunt food that displeases me isn't bad enough to send back - it just annoys me. However, if I deem something bad enough, I will, politely send it back or, at least, give feedback.

I know you are only having a laugh here, but still.

Scrambled egg with spinach, turkey, cheese, mushrooms and red onion. A proper fridge clearer.

    You keyboard warrior you.

Good idea for a stand alone thread, I’ll do it now. 😋

I'm just an innocent and very satisfied bystander in all this!

There's nothing worse than getting semi cold toast with cold butter imo. Butter needs to be applied as soon as it comes off the heat for me.

Breakfasts out are now going to be ruined now that I've experienced this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,748 ✭✭✭✭the beer revolu

Yeah, I don't like the butter all melted into the toast - I like my toast to cool a bit before buttering. And, I wouldn't necessarily butter all the toast with a fry.

I can understand where you are coming from. Its like getting a dinner in a restaurant and it covered with gravy.
