Its just the way palestinians are generally treated.

There are other photos of them being left with shirts on but having to pull down their trousers.

Jeez, of course I am not happy that innocents are being killed or refugees bombed. I asked a simple question out of curiosity. Read it back again.

Also it has happened before oct 7 previously.

Anyway I need to take a break from this thread. This whole thing is getting me down.

Houthi's attack French frigate with drones. Looks like Santa may be getting a day off this year.

If the Israelis were truly acting long term with their best interests in mind they would be pushing for a durable peace settlement after the war. We know the current Israeli Government has no interest in a political settlement, though. It would be a nightmare for them if a more moderate organisation took over in Gaza after the war.

Brickster, thats not how it's done. A group are surrounded and herded into an area under gunpoint, told strip off, leave their clothes on the ground, surrender any arms they have, and move away from where they left their clothes. And during all this procedure, they are under the eye of trigger happy IDF soldiers, armed with at least several machine guns. They could kill every single one of them in less than 2 minutes. Thats no badly made IDF video, that's the real thing.

Have you ever seen the Hamas uniform? Maybe you could post a few pics? What makes you think that they only had one rifle? What about the ones that got rid of theirs? And as for the ankle tags that's now standard security to easily identify Palestinians working in Israel, thanks to Hamas,

Not sure why you are quoting me. My conversation was with another poster. I see no other comments by you in this thread. Unless you are using two different names? If you tell me your other name I'll read back your questions and respond. Or point me to your original question (a lot of posts here so I may have missed it).

Not much doubt about the murder of journalists now. They are targeted by the IDF. I believe this is a war crime.

Mark Regev was on Drivetime last week. Unfortunately for him, he was up against Sarah McInerney. He stated that once this was over, the Palestinians would be grateful to Israel for what Israel has done in Gaza. Sarah said "really?" and he lost the plot. But then stated that "yes, 100% they would be grateful". This interview doesn't surprise me. In fairness, Mark Regev is doing what he is paid to do and what he is told to say. Likewise, commentators on the other sides do the same. Its a war of the airwaves. And similarly, the first casualty of war is the truth.

It is always important to understand who is saying what and to question what they are saying. I would tend to listen to the spokespersons but hold my judgment until I hear/read of an analysis by an independent journalist of quality - preferably with independent corroborated evidence.

A few posters here have mentioned that they would not swallow any particular story until robust evidence is gathered - I agree. As this war progresses, we will hear more evidence that fills in some of the gaps of previous incidents characterised as mass rape, prisoner humiliation and so on. Until there is independent verification of evidence, it is likely that someone is lying or being liberal with the truth. And that goes for both sides.

Yes, it is a war crime to deliberately target journalists in a war zone. They are non combatants.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 362 ✭✭RobbieV

This is correct. It is also a war crime to indiscriminately fire rockets into civilian populations.

On Oct 7th 2023 Hamas fired over 5000 rockets into civilian populations before launching a land invasion killing all men women and children they came across .

Apart from the hundreds they took hostage of course. They paraded hostages around Gaza in celebration. One was recently found dumped and decapitated. A young girl. Someone's daughter.

    Hamas must be wiped out.

So you are ok with innocent men, women and children being murdered?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 323 ✭✭duck.duck.go

Amateurs these Israelis, they should have instead murdered dozens of thousands like the Russians done and have put them in mass graves that one can see from space like in Mariupol

instead they let them work and support their families

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

They have now ordered 2.3m people into the only safe zone in Gaza which is 3.3km long smaller than London airport- it is pure evil - worse than anything in our history

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,377 ✭✭✭Warper

And we all know what happens to safe zones in Gaza

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭dmcdona

Are you suggesting that you fully support the Israelis mass-murdering innocent civilians? And post a satellite image of the mass grave? Would that please you in some way?

You had asked a while back for me to show a post where you excused murder... I think you've just nailed it.

Now, you show me a post where I have excused murder or rape or any other atrocity. Quid pro quo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 323 ✭✭duck.duck.go

I pointed out that these people are being allowed to work and support their families and we get fake outrage over plastic tags (which not been verified by BBC or any other respected media) while we get several posts of excusing Hamas rape campaign

Unlike the Hamas allies in Russia who would have just killed them and thrown them into mass graves that you could see from space, as they have done

But if you want to make up **** 💩 go for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭dmcdona

You have stated, multiple times, that posters (including me) are excusing rape and murder. You stated that Hamas had a policy on rape. You provided no evidence when challenged. You have accused one poster of being a rape denier - with not a shred of evidence.

Own your posts, own your words. Point out where I have made "stuff" up (other than me asking you to go get your big boy pants on - you could be 40 for all I know). Point out all the posts excusing murder and rape.

Or continue to live in your own little bubble and echo chamber, throwing insults and accusations out to anyone who doesn't conform to your point of view and row in with your own outrage. All without evidence or corroboration.

I suspect you'll continue to do the above - but I'd be delighted if you proved me wrong.

You’ve asked for evidence of Hamas sympathisers excusing mass rape, there are several examples higher up worthy of mental gymnastics Olympic medal

Pretty obvious they are just rounding any male up now.

Am I denying ? No. Denial is too strong a word.

goes on to post basically denials about everything!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,783 ✭✭✭dmcdona

    I don't see any eamples.

Be brave and quote the posts of Hamas sympathisers excusing mass rape. If there are several examples, it won't take you too long.

You might also quote my posts where I made stuff up. I'm still waiting for that.

Any place where there are arrests made, those arrested are searched, and that includes Ireland. You think that the Guardai arrest someone, take them to the station book them and put them in a cell without searching them? The point that you are trying to make is that what happened in Gaza does not happen in Ireland. Believe me, if the situation in Gaza was replicated here in Ireland the very same thing would happen. You have seen the most recent vid where the IDF again rounded Palestinians or if you like, suspected Hamas members, held them at gunpoint, told them to strip, and in this particular video, one Palestinian held up his rifle. Which begs the question, how many of the rest of them managed to get rid of their weapons? Or do you believe that only one of them was armed??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,072 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

The Garda do not strip people to their underwear and make them kneel on the street. Doesn't happen.

Frisked and if necessary strip searched at the station and clothes taken for forensics if required.

Why are these photos being taken by the IDF at all and uploaded to social media? The best guess would be to boost Israeli morale and to humiliate Palestinians.

Incidentally, the regime committed one identifiable war crime with the photos this week: admits that some of the men were released and were therefore not Hamas members. Therefore, innocent civilians were detained, stripped to their underwear and their photos plastered all over social media.....a clear breach of the Geneva Convention.

There's a hell of a lot of bluffing on this thread. People stating things as being true when they know in their heart and soul that they're not. Very disingenuous to say the least.
