So it's out there in today's FI

The minister confirms that 'some' farmers won't get their Acres payments until after Christmas.

Then Revenue will get a bigger slice of it next year unless they do similar then...

    Incompetent Bastxrds...

Could it be justified as being part of the 2023 accounts as income? Even if not paid till jan 2024?

Income Tax is on ‘receipts basis’. If received in 2023, taxed in 2023 & so forth

I've wonder are these ones where actions such as scorecards, returning receipts for less. These with extensions to deadlines, could be the issue

Payment for the National Dairy Beef Welfare Scheme is showing in amounts due - financial self services on Agfood.

Hopefully they’ll learn from their mistakes this year and have all 2024 payments on time

TBH, I reckon that livestock farming is now perceived by some as a filthy environmental issue that has farmers sliding down the snake. This currant issue of delayed payments would never have occurred two or three years ago.

The IFA, farmer's lobby groups and rural TD's etc are conspicuous in their silence on the whole issue of delayed payments this year. No other industry would tolerate this shambolic treatment by a Government body

Most people wouldn't know who the current president of the ifa is

Ya it really is there's a cohort in the dept that wouldn't spit on us if we were on fire . Its a symptom of the general population as far as I'm concerned.

Call off my contractor looking for money. I normally have him paid by now and he was saying if I hadn’t him paid, something was up.

he said the country is held up.

i get salary on Friday and will get a few quid to him. And pray money comes soon.

Yea I got call from Co op last week looking for money . Now there was only a couple hundred on the account as I had paid off everything in aug after selling allot of store lambs. Anyway I cleared the account but he was saying he was finding people really struggling with cash flow this year with the delayed payment

Reading the Farming Independent today got all my hopes dashed for Acres payment before Xmas. What has changed from what was promised in the article below? There was no context given to today's article. A lot of farmers depending on this to cover end of year bills.

I believe McConalogue will make a statement tomorrow and if he has any cop on he will commit to pay all ACRES applicants before year-end. After-all he did promise to commence payments by the end of November in early October this year. They have the money as per corporation tax record announcement earlier today

Got a phone call tonight from Portlaoise, telling me I had got a letter on the 7th Nov, requesting receipts for the Fodder Support Scheme. I said I hadn't got any letter. He told me other farmers tell him that too! I asked was that the Multi Seed Sward and Red Clover? He said it was the Fodder Support Scheme, that I'd already received an advance payment and I would be penalised if I didn't get the receipts in soon. I said that my advisor had already submitted TMK but I would contact them in the morning.

Have some advance payments been issues under this scheme?

Yep. I got just over half this time last year (advance payment of 2023 FSS). Still waiting on balance though..

I dont understand why they paid out the advance payments of schemes if there's a problem with an application.

Haven't got bps or yfs at all, asked a lad who advises farmers. He reckoned more people working from home. I'm very tight atm owe contractors etc

This is it, they know they can piss about with delayed payments &other things, with a near non existent farm organisation of much unity among farmer's.

I have looked up FSS. I never applied for it. What I applied for is the MSS and Red Clover reseeding. I didn't get a letter on 11th Nov as that would have set off alarm bells in my head. I will check my bank statements in the morning, but don't remember any payment that I didn't know of.

It's worth about €2K to me.

Do you have to submit receipts for the fodder support thing? I thought you just had to declare the area and then yhey could check of it was mowed with eye in sky or inspection etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 10,279 ✭✭✭✭893bet

No eye in sky. Ideally you need a contractor receipt and/or plastic receipt on the event of inspection.

    But it's Timid Tim...

A desperate waste of space altogether. Need a firebrand with the brains to sometimes shut up but can still go postal when needed.

I must be imagining..I honestly thought I heard something at the time they could check the area mowed etc

Neither of the two candidates this time around fit that bill. It’ll be four more years of bland mumblings whichever of them gets elected.

No one will notice there’s a new president unless he gets caught in some kind of sex scandal involving two Colombian hookers and a rooster.

I assume Charlie McConalogue is the rooster in the above 🦃

And I guess the Columbians are Larrys cartel.

    It all makes sense now
