Hallmark(s) on silver object

    This was posted on another site by a pal of mine, he's wondering what the hallmarks on this silver object might mean.

    I don't know what the object is, and don't have any further context apart from that it might be Swedish (if I get any I'll post further here).

    Can anyone give any sort of a steer as to what it all means?

    Just saw this now. Given the type of object, its more likely silver plate than solid silver. Your photo of the hallmark is unsharp, but I see 5 symbols, i.e. 4 with a Maltese cross in the centre. The four letters are very ornate and unclear, but could be EPNS, meaning electroplated nickel silver, so likely early 20th century and not v. valuable.
