We ate in Harrow at the weekend and also did the 3 course for €50. Very good value and lovely food. Would definitely go again. I have also heard Hilliards is lovely too (next to Reidys I think).

Hello all. Does anyone know if the parking attendant checks the train or bus stations on Sundays?

I don't mind paying, but not if I don't have to.

I think parking is free in Killarney on Sundays? Open to correction though.

I always thought it was still pay and display at the outlet centre/bus station carpark? I was there a while back on a sunday & we put a ticket up and others were too.

They're checked on Sundays as they're run by a private company. Safer to get a ticket if parking at the bus or train station.

But the car parks in town are free.

Anyone got a recommendation for someone to look at my Double glazed windows to see I am getting droughts thru them. Some of my rooms seem cold despite radiators on full heat…. And I think there is a draft coming in somewhere.

my windows are around 20 years old - no condensation on them - I just think the seals around the opening window are wore out/ down

anyone out there that can look at repairs same etc

    many thanks.

I hear that the old Convent Home by the Cathedral will be 'emergency accommodation' soon. I believe housing 120 or so.

    Anyone know whats happening ???

Is it destined for another set of 'male welfare migrants' under the guise of Ukrainian Family accommodation as we have seen in Mayo yesterday....hasn't Killarney taken its share at this stage.

You do something like they did in Ballinrobe or they will continue to place as many as they can in communities who do nothing about it.

Quite a few businesses have closed recently. Underground Cafe, Celtic Donuts and Bake My Day all gone. Garrets is also closing next week. The article also mentions a maternity wear shop but I don't know which one. You'd wonder where this will stop, and at what point the government intervenes

Most businesses on every main street in the country would need rescue plans, none of which would ever materialise from the government.

The Kerrys Eye have an article about the closures this week.

While it's never good to see places close anywhere you'd really get sick of hearing from the Restaurants Association. All they do is make out no other business is effected by anything just them. The latest complaint about having to up up prices because of VAT. How many of them put down their prices when they had a reduced rate? Most other business are paying almost double the VAT amount they are.

The fast is, not just in Killarney, there are far too many Cafes etc to be sustainable but that is never talked about.

Bijou Boutique at the top of New St, next door to Wild cafe is also closing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,887 ✭✭✭Casati

Yes Killarney has far too many cafes and restaurants as the tourists are down 30%+

We are really shooting ourselves by reducing the bed capacity so much - to fill the void would probably take years if the capacity ever returns

Just had the lamb shank and a couple of rutting reds in cronins. Bloody lovely it was.

Taking the kids for a spin around the lakes tomorrow.

Does anyone know where you could buy kerosene (home heating oil) at a petrol station in Killarney or is Tralee the closest? I just need a small bit to tide me over

I know you can get it in Nolans garage in Tralee. I'm sure there are other garages/petrol stations that would do it.
