It really is amazing what an inflated ego will do to a person.

All Ryan had to do was admit to what he did. "Sorry I took the sneaky topup and i'll give that money to a worthy charity".

He hadn't done anything illegal, he'd have gotten away with it. Anyone with a lick of sense and humility would have realised the game was up. Even at the very end when he was being offered the 170k Plan B on the radio that he clearly wanted so desperately. All he had to do was absolutely nothing. But his ego wouldn't let him.

As an aside I just got stung for the TV license the other day having avoided it for years behind an apartment complex door. Bit grim considering the recent scandal. But at least it won't be going to Tubs' overfilled pockets. So I can console myself with that.

Tubs is crash landing into reality now. 100k for a 3 hour on air show 5 days a week is a big big cut especially when you consider he's moving to London and all the costs associated with that. This will mean early starts. Actual commuting to do. No more wandering off campus for a leisurely stroll after work at 11am. He might even have to stick around for full days in order to prep for the following days show!

Between the shock to the system and the inevitable collapsing listener figures from the off, I'll give him 6 months to a year tops before he's back in Dublin

If Tubridy had taken €10m from his company would he not have paid nearly €5m in Tax, PRSI and USC?

How much do you think he could have taken, to buy a house, without paying Tax, PRSI and USC?

Good. It was ridiculous what he was at. Constant plugging. Read the fcuking room Daithi. Amazed he wasn't shut down sooner.

He said on air that he had permission from the boss to plug his free plugs. Must have been Dee.

Not sure if it was of much value though, I mean we all know them Kerry lads are cute hoors. Would you trust their dodgy advice? I'd be treating Dáithi's spheel the same as you'd hear from a Killarney Jarvy.

For those wondering what Tubridy is on at Virgin; we have been told it's between £70k and £100k. Neither Tubridy, nor Noel Kelly have confirmed/denied this.

If he was on the same wages in Virgin as RTE, or if he was on more, you can best your last cent that we'd have been told about this a dozen times a day over the past week by the usual suspects. So my betting is that he's on the £70-£100,000 scale.

The stills photos for Fair City is a dream contract for any photographer. It works like this:

You are told when the dress rehersals will be on for the 2 or 3 big storylines this week. You head out to Montrose, get the jist of the story from one fo the crew and when the cameras are not running you get the actors involved to pose for a couple of photos in a scene that matches the one on TV.

Then onto the laptop and send the producer a few selection shots. Might be done on the spot so they can veto them and have you take a few new ones.

20 hrs at the most. Which, for a self employed person is an absolute dream contract. You get guaranteed €60K a year, it's from RTE so no chasing them for money and you can knock a few stray expenses off it for Revenue such as equipment, travel etc.

It also gives you 20+ hours a week, plus weekends to yourself to expand your business (weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs etc.) or portfolio in whatever way you need.

If a company gets it, then you just need to shadow a newbie for a few weeks to make sure they are doing it right. You have their wages, PRSI, employer contributions sorted for the year, plus plenty left over and you still have them for free for 20 hours a week to cover other work.

It could be done for a lot less if its needed at all (which I doubt).

He was on Newstalk about it last week, can he still promote it elsewhere?

Yeah I was looking at rental prices in Islington and the average is 725gbp per week. And that's the average price for an average place.

He'll be like the majority of his 24 to 39 year old listnership who are paying at least a third of their salary on rent.

At least he'll have that in common with "the kids". Just about the only thing he'll have in common.

Ye think that presenting a three hour show will be three times the work the RTE show was, but it won’t be.

That show leaned very heavily on Ryan and his observations, this next one will be different. His team will be a bigger factor.

The begrudgery is a bit disappointing.

Finally, if you took Patrick’s salary and added 100k to it, you’d end up with about what Ryan was being paid.

you consider he's moving to London and all the costs associated with that.

If he's getting something up on £100K he should be fine, he doesn't have a lavish lifestyle afawk, kids are grown up

He might even have to stick around for full days in order to prep for the following days show!

My understanding is he's basically just a DJ though, and most of the music has to come from the station playlist. So quite possibly less work in practice, certainly less that requires much thought.

Between the shock to the system and the inevitable collapsing listener figures from the off

Don't see why this should be. Virgin is the kind of background wallpaper station that shops, cafes etc. leave on all day. Unless listeners find him actively obnoxious he's unlikely to get large numbers switching off. Bland & inoffensive is just what the doctor ordered for this sort of gig.

Virgin Radio is a much smaller station than those of the BBC. It isn't an FF gombeen designed market over there. He's also working for the Murdochs and, unlike RTE, they care about audience figures.

Well I'm sure that it will come as a relief to many people that Ryan's profound and intelligent "observations" may be a thing of the past. Now he is just a poorly paid, record-spinning monkey. Intriguing! Sure if he's short of a few bob for the rent I'm sure you'd be willing to help your messiah out Sunny 😜

Toy show this week. I might actually watch for the first time in years because Kielty comes across as somebody with a decent personality who can interact with people and children in a normal, friendly way rather than the self-serving manchild that stunk up the show for the past 15 years. Having said that if it's full of odious, spoiled south Dublin brats, I'm out before the first break!

As I said upthread I listen to Q102 when I am at home. It's light, easy background listening for me. Music, a bit of chat, not much, and more music.

They mentioned Tubridy today and had clips of him saying how wonderful it was all going to be. I didn't listen in detail tbh to what he had to say. But it sounded a bit like every year when RTE would launch the Autumn schedule and he would hold forth about the LLS and how it was all going to be .. bla bla bla.

I didn't watch or listen when he was in RTE, I won't be listening when he takes up the new job.

250,000 + 100,000 does not make 500,000+. TBH I think PK is over paid and I think its a sweetheart deal.

It's an unreal deal. And plenty of time to do extra work elsewhere. Before the advent of digital photography I get it. But now... No offence meant, but how difficult is it to take a photo? I know I'll be glamed for this, not wanting to take away from the profession, but in my job I've seen these photographers coming in and taking shots if staff in various interactions and I have to say, I've been thinking how simple is that. But what would I know hah!

More RTE payments to the L'Oreal class "talent". Because they were worth it.

Why the Hell should these people be bailed out with taxpayer money?

And the main quote from the article: "Former Late Late Show host Tubridy’s €515,000 earnings in 2022 top the list."
