We don't have dog, so we feel we cannot contribute to this discussion, we have wheelie bins though. Anyway it's a bit wet and windy here in D24 nothing extraordinary though.

Possibly but 50k plus with no electricity so must have been rough in some areas.

Just drive through Dublin City to work. Loads of cars despite red warning as expected.

I'm in the Midlands. My front garden is a swimming pool. The electricity is gone at work and there's trees and branches down everywhere.

And despite all that, not a squid in sight !

Depends where in Cork, Well justified around me, coastal, both rain and wind. A series of tress down locally, localised flooding etc. So in my neck of the woods Orange was justified.

I would also imagine there had to be a mindset that we already had saturated lands and therefore trees falling were a heightened risk with the wind forecast. Not everywhere is urban with small hedges and young/small trees!

Is a damp squid better or worse than a damp squib?

To the people saying it should have been yellow instead of orange, or orange instead of red: I’d rather be safe than sorry. If Met Eireann don’t err on the side of caution and people die then those same posters would be saying what a disgrace it was that people weren’t warned.

I'm in Cork City and it wasn't too bad. There was a decent bit of rain but wind only really picked up for a very short period. When I compare this to what we got last month, it wasn't bad at all

I got up at 6 to let the dog in from the back garden....thing looked terrified and sprinted into the kitchen. Is now hiding under the table. Must have been rough enough out there last night.

Absolutely fine here in Dublin city centre. I expect the retailers will be fuming with Met Eireann.
