As one might expect, the Israel, US and its' close 'vassal' states voted against resolution condemning Israel.

What is interesting is that , of EU members, Hungary also voted against. ( and I think it was an Hungarian Commissioner who originally suspended aid to Palestine only for his actions to be called out ) . And also Czechia abstained.

All other EU states seem to have supported the resolution.

Malta to table emergency vote at the security council to be held on Sunday, totally shameful it has got to this point

UN has failed in its role on the Lebanon border to stop Hizbollah launching rockets at people. Gaza is an even more extremist place and a much tougher job so I don't see how the UN will do much good there either.

So the rapes accusations have been dropped, the 40 babies beheaded babies gone and now further proof that the most wanton destruction caused on the day was caused by the IDF. In one way it's not a surprise that an army that's famously trigger happy would be any more restrained with it's own citizens than with the Palestinians. The old "Kill 'em all and lot God sort them out" policy.

War sucks. Maybe Lebanon can stop Hezbollah from launching rockets? Why is Lebanon attacking, anyway?

Don't put terrorist HQ under a hospital?

We can no longer pretend than none of the 'ordinary' Palestinians and authorities in Gaza and hospital directors etc. did not know that Hamas HQ is downstairs in their hospital. 'We thought they were all just medical rockets'.

If you do choose to use children as human shields and your plan is to sacrifice as many as possible for more PR, then I suppose a hospital is the 'best' place for Hamas HQ.

How many kids will die today in the war Hamas started? It's not easy but between Gaza and Israel they have somehow managed to make the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank look like the moderate, calm, voice of reason amid this madness.

It's a pity then that the settlements and killings in the West Bank show that supporting the relatively moderate Palestinian Authority doesn't really achieve a whole lot.

The aid agency Doctors Without Borders has quoted a surgeon in the agency’s series of tweets expressing concern at the “catastrophic situation” inside the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City amid intensifying strikes. “Over the last few hours, the attacks against al-Shifa hospital have dramatically intensified. Our staff at the hospital have reported a catastrophic situation inside just few hours ago,” the aid agency posted to X, formerly known as Twitter.

I truly cannot think of any time in living memory so many in the West have been so completely and utterly caught up in the wrong side of history.

Reports on sky news now are 39 babies have died after electricity was cut off and they ran of fuel. The babies were on ventilators so couldn't be moved. Dosent matter if there is HQ there or not. You had Hamas depravity and now you have IDF depravity. Absolutely sickening. Those babies, like the ones Hamas killed had no part in this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,623 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Those babies shouldn't have voted for Hamas in 2006 and obviously should have crawled to the south of Gaza avoiding all mosques along the way.

The hospital compound is cordoned off and the buildings of the hospital are targeted. Any moving person within the compound is targeted. The Israeli occupation forces are outside, preventing any person to move… We are totally cut off from the whole world, we are minutes away from imminent death.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭freebritney

That was clearly justifiable. Those babies could have grown up to paint on plates and place them on hospital walls across the world to intimidate and harass Jews.

Sky news corrected it saying the babies are now in immediate danger. So thankfully not dead. Yet. No one can leave the hospital due to snipers. Crazy

Well, the way the middle east is, if you never had outside ( western / UK / US ) interference, it always was and will remain a powder keg. What has been happening in Yemen is but one example. Sudan being another. Islam itself being a major driver of dissent with its Sunni / Shia divide.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,171 ✭✭✭Homelander

Well there's the ongoing civil war in Yemen in which most casulties are kids, and of course what Turkey is doing to the Kurds, but no-one seems to give a flying **** about either conflict on boards for whatever reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 551 ✭✭✭freebritney

Feel free to set up threads on any of the conflicts your concerned with, better yet organise some protests if you feel that strongly.

No, they might be younger, but for sure they're not healthier, or lead longer lives'. The amount of illness's "available" in hot climates is staggering. And those 20 public hospitals here in Ireland are failing to cope with the health problems we now have, and one of these problems is the number of tropical illnesses now presenting at those same hospital's. Try travelling to these Country's, and just have a look at the type of vaccinations required, and what diseases they prevent. And remember also, we don't have a war like situation that has existed in Palestine since 1948, with all the health / injury problems that brings.

Well according to the shills we need to support Israel because they are the only western democracy in the region, and they are also publically backed by a lot of other western democracies.. so stands to reason people protest their crimes and this support so much

Announcements of intent to commit Genocide.

I don't know which article you are referring to but this seems to be appropriate think it is from the UN)

"proof" is not something I am going to adduce as it is clearly a matter of interpretation and circumstance.

By "it"being allowed I take it that you mean a hospital being "targeted" when it is in the line of fire between an enemy and an attacker (or vice versa)

I don't know the exact details here(or elsewhere) and the question of proportionality seems relevant too.

I asked for these references in order to know what the legal nitty gritty was ,(as closely as possible since it is much easier to ask for advice in unearthing that sort of information than "simply " looking for it myself)

Here you go. It has been posted several times already.

    International Humanitarian Law Databases

IHL Treaties - Geneva Convention (I) on Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field,1949 - Article 19 (icrc.org)

Article 19 - Protection of medical units and establishments

Fixed establishments and mobile medical units of the Medical Service may in no circumstances be attacked, but shall at all times be respected and protected by the Parties to the conflict.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Complete psychopaths. Some impressive dehumanisation there. Palestinians are all animals. They plan to make Gaza unliveable.

I noticed the defence of these lunatics and their war crimes is weakening significantly.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

Sounds like hundreds of football hooligans have come out of retirement today in London to disrupt the march. They are all for cracking a few skulls of people wanting to protest against genocide and hospital bombing those lads.

Scumbags, typical football fans if that's what they really are

The other issue with the deflection and whataboutery of naming all these other conflicts is they don't purport to be something they are not. Yemen doesn't try to pretend they are a pluralist democracy, a bastion for human and LQTBQ rights, same for Iran, Saudi, Pakistan and any of the other countries I have not the slightest plan of living in. They also don't expect to be judged the same as western countries with our values. That's why Israel draws everyone's ire, they claim they are like us but act just like them. Israel needs to change it's marketing slogan to "European, right wing religious colony in the Middle East". It's a mouthful but at least it's honest.

That called out everyone yesterday at the UN
