How long did it take your installer to process your grant?

I installed solar recently and I've been waiting for them to process almost a month now. They said there are people in the queue and they are still processing the grant.

I'm not sure if I should be pushing or this is the norm.

Installers are usually a nightmare to deal with grant applications. Once they have their money after installation they slow down everything, not rare seeing months to have everything in order.

Check the current situation of your application from https://mgen.seai.ie/ and see what have been uploaded on the "Documents Section" by installer. You can see what and when was uploaded.

10 weeks from install to the grant in my account early last year.

Going by some peoples feedback that was quick! You need to keep at them though and ensure ESBN received the NC6 form and get confirmation via email to keep as proof. They had a habit of losing or misplacing them in the past.

6 months! I did feel there was some delay on the installer side. They were really quick with the NC6 form and my deemed export started 1 week before install!

It would only be faster if the customer had to pay the price with grant discounted and SEAI pays the grant directly to the registered installer (like help to buy scheme).

The way this is now (you pay installer in full and rely on them to expedite the paper work) is very comfortable for installers.

You know there's nothing stopping you in uploading everything, lots of us did that to expediate Grant payment, I got my grant in 3weeks as uploaded everything

I did this and ~6 months later the electrician is still waiting for his grant payment. Some issue on the SEAI side delaying it....

What i like with this approach is that it is in their interest to expedite the paperwork and any issues with the inspection, they are straight out!

My installer was on the ball. System live on 25/5/23. I organised my BER privately and had grant on 21/6/23 . Northwest area

Are no installers fronting the grant any more? Mine did... Popular and from Enniskillen IFYKWIM.

You still have to chase the NC6 tho... Trust no one!

Get on to ESBN and get confirmation by phone or preferably by email, ESBN have a habit of mislaying forms.

ESB is aware because they contacted my new electricity provider (Energia) and told them about the scheme. Now, I wonder if Bord Gais (the old one) was aware of it.

Bord Gais are one of the worst. If they owe you FIT you will need to keep on at them to pay you because they legally do have to if they owe you it. Ask ESBN when they received your NC6 to find out who owes you what.

My installer was paid the grant directly from SEAI. I did receive emails to say it was paid and finalised and it took about 4 months after install completed.

As predicted… I’m having issues with them. I got the closing bill and none of the solar is reflected. I called and they tried to pass it on to my new electricity provider who of course said that doesn’t have a word on it. I called back and they said they would escalate it but nothing was ensured as I didn’t sing any contract when I was their customer.

should they notify me when they receive the nc6? I got notified and signed up automatically by Energia (new provider)

AFAIK they would or should have sent you an email requesting you agree to their T&C's to avail of micro generation FIT. I think they were the only company to request that be not 100% on that.

That particular supplier has changed their policy. You have to claim the grant and get paid into your own account now.

Give ESBN a call or email and find out what the situation is. They can occasionally lose the forms. So be sure they received it, they should have it before date of inverter going live AFAIK so it's on the system for people working on the lines.

I submitted the application online on the seai portal. I don’t plan on getting the install for a couple of months but would have expected some movement on it by now. Nothing has been requested but is anything usually requested before they approve?

I don't know what way the SEAI deal with the forms, usually the installer sends it directly to ESBN prior to installation so they are aware of the system on the network. Ring them is the best thing to do.
