    In a similar vein...

Bill Kenwright passed away recently. I knew him as chairman of Everton FC. I did not know he was in Coronation Street in the 60s, or was a major producer on the West End. Or that his partner was the actress Jenny Seagrove.

ITV confirmed that they had axed the British Soap Awards from their schedule for 2024. A statement from ITV read: "The British Soap Awards won't be on air in 2024 but is set to return in 2025. The show was fantastically received in 2023, achieving consolidated figures of 2.9million and doubling its audience year on year, so we look forward to the show's return."

If BBC are on the ball they'll produce an alternative awards show for 2024.

TikTok comedian Taylor Tomlinson will be replacing James Corden as the new host of The Late Night Show which will also be getting a name change and will now be called After Midnight.

    Some extra details

After Midnight is a reworking of the Comedy Central game show @Midnight, which ran from 2013 to 2017 and was hosted by Chris Hardwick. That show featured comedians and special guests coming up with funny responses to online memes and trending topics, with a heavy reliance on social media interaction.

Warner Brothers discovery really is a sh1t show.

Apple TV is going up from €6.99 per month to €9.99 per month.

One of the few price hikes I'm ok with: Apple has the most eclectic but most interesting shows out there, and even at 10 quid cheaper than major competitors.

Yellowjackets was on my saved list. Something different anyway.

Quiz Night about to start on BBC 2. Mastermind, then Only Connect (my favourite), then University Challenge (new presenter a big improvement imo).

RIP Top Gear: following Freddie Flintoff's injury during shooting, the BBC has decided to pause the show "for the foreseeable future".

Honestly, I hadn't even realised the latter-days show's presenters included Flintoff, such has it just dropped out of my radar (whereas I'd at least be vaguely aware of the former trio's latest Amazon junket)

Took me a moment to realize that you weren't talking about an Alec Baldwin-style shooting injury.

I've been rewatching Dexter over the last few months a couple of episodes here and there but I just got the the finale of season 4 and yes I know what was coming but man it's still shocking and so well done to pull on the heart strings.

Julie Benz really nailed that broken character so well.

The great Mark Shepard survived 6 heart attacks yesterday and had to be brought back to life four times.

One of the quintessential "that guy"s from TV; talk about a jobbing actor he appeared in everything and I'll even forgive him for his "Irish" accent in Battlestar Galactica. That's insane though - 6 heart attacks? Diet / lifestyle or shítty luck?

US Network scheduling is so weird.

Like this week's episode of Magnum is the fall finale, before going on a break with no return date scheduled. (though wiki has it as being back in the first 2 weeks of the new year with no reference while tvline says it's TBD)

I know this is standard for shows to take a break at this time, but it only has 2 episodes left in the series. There were a couple of weeks it could've been shown where it was on a break and they could even do a double episode next week as Quantum Leap is going on a break after this week as well.

It's not like it's getting renewed and I'm sure whatever viewers they get showing it next week would be the same as any other week.

Now it's just going to come back at some point for 2 weeks, unless they decide to do the double episode, then be gone again. So it's not like they're using it to fill a big gap.

And if they want the same day, it'll have to air in the first couple weeks in the new year since the Chicago shows start on the 17th.
