What do I need to register for importing and exporting goods in EU?

Hi All,

I intend to set up a small business to import gemstones from another EU country and I'm plannnig to sell them in EU again. I work full time in a company so I need to start gemstones business as a side job initially.

I got so confused when I checked the internet. Some people mention about intra EU VAT number, on the other hand some other mention about registering myself as sole trader.

Due to my visa limitation (Spouse stamp 1g) I cannot register myself as sole trader as far as I know.

Apologies if this was asked before in this forum but I sincerely need help and appreciate your comments.

You are correct, you can’t be self employed or operate a business.

The only way around this restriction is to be employed by someone else to do it.
