Are you all booked for the RWD version?

Inhaven’t got the call yet despite having an agreed cost to change, although for an AWD model.

Dealer in Cork told me they're getting AWD version for demo/test.

Car expected to be ready for test next week.

My car due to be ready for Jan I'm told.

I was eager so I called them. Every demo model in the country which arrived is AWD. I was waiting for a call to and they said they are just beginning to work through them. You should get a booking for next week

Is it just the RWD or do they also have the AWD version to test drive?

Only AWD is in the country at the moment, North Dublin and getting 2 cars, one of each interior, black and the tahiti blue.

Haven't really seen any examples of the black interior so far. All looks blue. Not super convinced on the blue personally.

Great thing about the black interior is that it comes with a matte black finish on console and other areas unlike the tacky piano black on the Tahiti Blue.

Great to hear they will be here next week. For anyone test driving I'd be keen to hear just how annoyingly BYD have chosen to implement 'safety' systems given that they can only be switched off via menus and sub menus and have to be switched off every time. Bonging everytime the cameras detect that the speed limit has changed or if you are 1km over the speed limit is very annoying, along with lane centering and lane keeping assist which are dangerous on back roads, nice on the motorway, but not on many of our roads.

Lots of people saying, "oh they'll fix the ADAS with software updates"... don't bank on it, that's a promise we can't hold anyone to unfortunately.

From reading in other forums there's APKs you can side load to shut those things up on start.

Silly that you should have to do so though.

Thanks for info, this is really good news. Agree, mad that it comes to this.

We have an EV6 aswell (RWD Seal would be the 2nd EV in the house) and I think it's great that the camera reads the speed limit and displays it on the dash, very handy for example if on a road you don't know that the limit is on the dash, but it doesn't beep thankfully. The latest EU regs have gone too far. I read recently that they are now looking at regs for noise pollution in the car caused by all the beeping which is a distraction for drivers, who knew that beeping and bonging at drivers is a bad idea 🤔 🙄

Any links on how to do that? The reportedly aggressive lane assist and speed limit change notifications is one of my main concerns as well.

Is it just wishful thinking on my behalf that an update will come in future so that safety features don't have to be disabled every time you start the car (i.e. do it once and forget about it)

I had read reviews that this was a problem on the atto 3 in other countries as well. It turned out that there is no issue with it here in Ireland - no annoying beeping. It does show an alert on the driver binnacle screen if you are over 120/125? km/h but it is just a symbol on the screen no noise. It also shows teh speed limit it thinks applies to the road, which is not always correct, but again this is just a little speed limit sign on the screen with the number in it. Neither of these obstruct any other information.

It beeps if you are using the autopilot and it doesn't detect your hands on steering wheel, which is fair enough, and there is an occasional beep if swerving around - has activated sometimes when I am e.g. overtaking. I think it activates if it detects another car close to you in your blind spot or something, so that can happen if passing another car. The normal blind spot detection isThe other day it beeped when I had to brake sharply behind a car in front of me. In all cases a single beep - nothing continuous or irritating. The only mildly irritating thing is the autopilot one, sometimes it activates even though I am holding the wheel (lightly).

Unfortunately it is wishful thinking as EU regs means they have to activate each time the car is switched on.

If there are work arounds/apps etc to switch them off permanently that's what I will be doing.

Was either Reddit or speakev, nothing showing on the UK site after a quick search, so I guess it's Reddit.

The process wasn't outlined in detail but from memory it involved putting the APKs on a usb and entering some code into the head unit.

Has anyone heard anything about the 61.5kWh version coming here? I had seen a mid 2024 date mentioned before for the UK.

The range would suit me based on my current car. 460km WLTP for the 61.5kWh one.

Looks a bit underpowered but over 5k less than the 82.5kWh version in Australia. That would put it at the price of a new ID.3 here.

Booked in for a test drive next weekend.

I've paid deposit and confirmed order anyway but will be interesting to test drive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,546 ✭✭✭dor83

I'm the same, test drive Saturday and deposit paid. The only thing that will make me not go with it will be if the test drive is terrible, which I can't see happening.

You said earlier that your car would be available in January..is that because you are waiting for 241 reg or is there that delay before they are in the country

Likely that the car will be in country at the end of November is what I'm told but at that point I'll probably wait until January.

They really need to do away with year on registrations, month of manufacture (for spec) and month of first registration is what matters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,107 ✭✭✭djan

Updated reviews suggest there's already been some OTA updates that sort out the annoyingly loud low speed noise and potential to turn it off inside.

Reps have confirmed that updates will come out to sort the sensitive assists also so wonder if the Irish cars have shipped with these.

Considering the car seems to have really responsive voice control, would be interested if you can turn off driving assists this way?

Would be very Star Trek, and class, if it's a case of 'Computer, deactivate all safety protocols'.

Unless it can make earl grey hot it's no good.

Like the look of this. Wonder how it will be priced in the second hand market a few years down the line as I won't be buying new! I get Toyota Supra vibes off the front end design.

Prices have plummeted in recent months. Covid played havoc with prices but I think they are back to normal now.

ID3, ID4, tesla, Kona, and most other normal cars at 50% or very close of original value, excluding the higher end of course, Porsches etc

I wonder how new tech advances and more new Chinese companies will affect depreciation.
