I will start with this monstrosity,

Simply terrible design. Who thinks this would in anyway make sense or a good design?

Sure it would not even need a seperate stand just its own base to fit onto lol. Eaglemoss would have loved it.

The Dauntless from Prodigy has a HIDEOUS aft section. Shame, the fore is quite nice.

I really like Lower Decks but think the Cerritos is an absolutely terrible design.

I thought that about the Cerritos at the beginning too but it has grown on me. Its a perfect Lowe deckers less important ship.

The Iwo Jima class from Star Trek Armada II. It's plain ugly but the role concept is cool. It's full of Starfleet Marines that specialise in boarding and commandeering other ships.

Surprised the Oberth hasn't been mentioned yet; I like the ship design myself, but there's no escaping it's an odd 'aul configuration IMO.

Agreed. Also crazy having the nacelle and the Torpedo tube so close together. It's like a Bulls eye for an attacking enemy ship to destroy this crappy ship.

Agreed it's a weird looking thing. I think I read years back though its design referred to the lack of cohesion in that group of Borg, each drone was an individual and as such, the ship expanded/repaired in a way that there was no consensus. Kinda makes sense in context.

Ye the curry class was on odd looking thing alright. I think thet were in DS9 one of the many mothballed together ships in the war with the Dominion.

I got one one from eaglemoss; remember them gangsters and it was broke. I was not very happy.

I could never understand the obsession with this thing, nor its elevation into cannon.

It’s like someone tried to smash together a Galaxy and a Sovereign, but failed to understand what made either of those designs work.

I have a lingering belief that with the ability to render ships in high resolution, every window and detail visible on pause, it has caused production designers to abandon the efficiency of simple geometry and silhouettes - knowing any detail would be lost on old lo-fi TVs. I can't think of any modern era ships whose designs became as iconic, not at first blush and they're more often than not totally over designed and lacking nuance.
