Part of the problem is Tubbs requires a large production team to support him. Early on in the thread it was said he had 7 researchers. When an independent does their sums they are looking at ~500k in wages alone.

    That's true, the hidden cost.

At least Brendan Courtney didn't have 7 researchers, he just chatted about his dog and his mum.

If we don't see Tubs doing the Toy Show each year for the next five years for the reasonable compensation of €75,000 an appearance, we riot.

    So TLLS and PK.

It looks to me like something strange is going on.

I would love to know the timeline so that its not as strange as I might think : -

Green Ink is the independent production company owned by PK and his business partner Stephen Stewart. Stewart is now the Director of TLLS but TLLS remains an RTÉ in house production.

Crimecall … "what? how does this relate to crimecall?" … So Crimecall just got a new host and a new set, but … and I am happy to be wrong about this … it seems to have also move from an RTÉ In house production to an Independent production company … guess what indo producer? … Green Ink … I did try to find the last episode of Crimecall hosted by Sharon Ni B but … Crimecall is not available on the Player ??? perhaps someone else might get the final credits for Sharon's last episode to confirm it was an RTÉ in house production … and not a Green Ink Co-pro … Directed by Stephen Stewart.

and then there is The 2 Johnnies and their new show... produced by Green Ink.

Was the deal with PK hashed out along with some guaranteed productions for Green Ink?

    ______

In the end they were just greedy, they all knew one another and knew what to expect more money for no return, it was a secure cash flow, but in fairness they looked for what they wanted and fair dues to them for that, and wouldn't you be doing the same!

Just one more thing .... when did they return that car

Thanks for explaining that asinine response. I made the analogy re SO'R, & couldn't quite understand the relevance of content of the response, in relation to the resuscitation of RTÉ

If only you could feed some of these questions to a PAC TD...

You can add Claire Byrne's 'Irelands Smartest' and the boring Baz new show to the Green Inc production list

A cynical sort of a fella would think that Green Inc productions and NKM are not strangers

Byrne's show was recorded at the VM TV studios and I'll presume the Baz show is too - Just think about that...RTE are paying a indi production Co to produce a show using VM studios, as tumbleweed rolls across the RTE studio floors

There's a real bad stink off all this

He got an offer from Classic Hits and Tubs did not respond. He probably thinks it's beneath him and is waiting for RTE.

Or Classic Hits wanted some newspaper columns - hmmm, let me think about it more

I don't think that he is unless they are royalties from the RTE Player repeats of his LLS shows or radio shows. Even his biggest fans probably don't have the patience to use the RTE Player.

Contact your local TDs and have them forward the questions to the PAC and Media Committee members. The contact details for your local TDs should be on the Oireachtas website. Time to put Democracy into action. :)

hence what appreared to be a reasonable salary for pk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,681 ✭✭✭hawley

He still has a contract until 2025 with RTE. He forfeited his salary from the LLS but is still being paid the balance. That's my reading of it. He was being paid in July and August, I don't see what has changed since then. Kevin Bakhurst said that he was still being paid, even after ending negotiations. Tubridy won't take another job before he gets a payout as it would weaken his case.

Called RTÉ and AGS, neither could answer, Wayback Machine shows its been produced by 360 and Green Ink since at least 2018. So my conspiracy is debunked

If Ryan is still being paid for doing nothing it is just outrageous. Kevin has serious questions to answer. He is literally throwing money away when Ryan would be only delighted to get back on the airwaves. It's really time for someone to say to Kevin that it's time to move on. This can still be resolved and quite quickly in the circumstances.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭RoTelly

I think Kevin has moved on, I assume at this point that Ryan is not getting paid, time for Ryan to move on.

Ryan Who? Oh we're talking about that Ryan. Ryan is not doing nothing, sure he's at home making his own brand of nothin'burgers and selling them to Joe while he waits for the construction lads to install a laptop and microphone into the downstairs jacks for the podcast.

    Exactly...

And no one should be under the illusion that the BBC or commercial stations in Ireland are put off by the payments scandal and see Tubs as "tainted"

If Tubridy was an attractive proposition who could guarantee a station big viewers/listeners, they'd be kicking down his door to get his signature. It would take a lot more than alittle creative accounting to make him damaged goods.

The fact is he's not fit to shoulder a tv or radio show in his own right and grow an audience. He's coasted at RTE for decades. Handed primetime radio slots which guarantee a listenership even if Donald Duck was host and was handed the biggest show on RTE television, which also gave people a false reading of his value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,607 ✭✭✭jmcc

He also managed to lose audience figures for many of the shows that he was gifted. That's not something that commerical broadcasters can afford.

This IT poll is a disaster for Kevin Bakhurst. Only 15% think the Government should fund RTÉ, 4 out of 5 think RTÉ should cut its costs instead. Only slight variations across the population so no consolation prizes. What Government could bail out RTÉ in the face of these numbers? Only half those surveyed say they will pay the licence fee!🤪

And only 1 in 3 want Tubs back.

Ed Power in the IT does his best to support PK but his dig at Graham Norton is very underhand. Norton gets the biggest names in Hollywood week after week but the actors' strike has blocked them so, of course, he has to rely on local talent for the moment. Oh, and Hilary Clinton, with Chelsea. Scraping the barrel, poor Graham!

But I remember when Norton was starting out and his guests were C-listers. He still managed to create a lively and often hilarious show. The LLS has forgotten what it's like to have an A-lister in the studio. Can PK do a Graham Norton with whatever guests the LLS can muster?

Meanwhile at at 8.30 pm on a Saturday night Rte viewers are left with another Kilnaskully pulled out of the archives.

What are the 1800 staff doing?? If we can’t see the salaries, we should at least see a job description for the 1800 staff.

So... what are the health updates on Dee Forbes and Jim Jennings?

We don't really care about (useless nobody) Jim's version of events, but we all do want to hear (nobody) Dee's defence against Moya :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,870 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Get real, those 2 are never going to have to give their version of events.

They will play this sick card indefinitely.

Nothing sickens my turd more than some jumped up twat who happened to stumble into the attention of the public sphere claiming credit for raising €X millions/thousands for [insert charity here] as if they imparted that cash from their own wallet. Often behind the veneer of it all you'll realise that a % of your donation was used to 'expense' said talent who convinced you to open aforementioned wallet and impart with your hard-earned cash. It's a blindsided tactic very cleverly foisted on the un-assuming Irish public for a long time now and really needs to be called out for the pure and utter BS it really is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 568 ✭✭✭72sheep

But it's just oh so Irish to stop even asking... At the least Dee should be requested periodically to reconfirm she's still a mentaller and Jim that his recuperation is still ongoing. Instead PAC are falling over themselves with "we wish them well for a speedy recovery"; no doubt there'll be a couple of Christmas hampers sent over too so they can't be accused of bullying, LOL!

And it's not exclusive to Ireland either! I remember when hearing Terry Wogan received a fee for hosting that BBC all day long charity Childline thing, can't think of the name of it.. the one with the bear with the bandage around his head, Pugsy.. my estimation of him dropped somewhat. Not that I was ever his biggest fan.. but still.

When Wogan was questioned about it, he was quite indignant. His attitude was along the lines of "why shouldn't I get paid? It's a fee paying gig to me". Even Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G) took the plss out of him!
