    The Glen are relegated.

    Kanturk win 1-16 v 1-13

    Thought they would win.

It’s the fact they’ve taken teams lightly. 97 years at senior gone now!! UP KANTURK!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,374 ✭✭✭zetecescort

    Kanturk 1-16 Glen 1-13 FT

St Finbarrs 1-21 Charleville 0-15 in injurytime

Also the rise of Cork hurling in the county is great to see! The likes of Kanturk and Charleville need senior to keep players

Was at the Glen Kanturk match and you could feel the nervousness on the pitch and in the crowd. It was a dramatic and exciting match littered with mistakes as there was so much to lose.

Kanturk shot a lot of poor wides and in truth should have won by more. The Glen can have no complaints. 1-13 isn't going to win you any game

No top tier club on the northside of the city. Not sure that good for Cork hurling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,043 ✭✭✭deisedude

I think the idea that Northside hurling is at an all time low might be a little overblown. The new structure obviously means less teams in the top tier. Historically there have been plenty years the Northside clubs are well off it but the Senior championship was so bloated with teams that there was no real threat of them going down whereas the new structure is dog eat dog

When you consider there's 4 southside city clubs then it's pretty stark.

Cork Gaa need a plan to try reverse the decline of Hurling on the Northside. Glen Rovers now relegated from Senior. And Na Piarsaigh, Delaneys, Brian Dillions have all been in trouble with a good few years.

semi final lineup of St Finbarrs v Midleton and Imokilly v Sarsfields.

    Should be two good games.

Barrs and Imokily for me, Imokily looked fairly strong.

I don't think any club is entitled to a place at the top table. The Glen are a great club and they'll bounce back. The same applies to Na Piarsaigh. Kanturk are just as worthy and deserving of a place at the top table as Glen Rovers imo. The last thing we want is a Waterford hurling championship like scenario, where you have the same team winning the county every year.

This came up in my memories today - 10 years since the last final we made that we had a chance in.

Wasnt a great Cork team in my opinion but it wasn’t a strong year and we got a few strokes of luck like in the Dublin semi where their keeper made a howler. Could argue that was wrote off when Clare equalized in extra injury time of the first game but that’s the way the ref played it and Clare fans would argue they didn’t deserve the loss that day as well on their performance.

Disastrous start to the replay and always playing catch up. That Cork team didn’t know how to quit though, same with the first game when they were a couple of goals down. Those two games had some amazing moments but so many of them revolved around the anticipation when Nash would be strolling up for a free or penalty. Even though we lost, that goal in the replay when they had most of the team on the line is still one of the most memorable moments for me.

I still think about the end of that first game. Time up and we get a sideline right in front of me. Only needed to play a short one and wait for the whistle. Moylan cuts it wide, their keeper picks out Darragh O'Donovan and he scores a hail Mary point to level it. Sickener.

That's my memory aswell. When I saw what he did, instead of goinng short or into the corner soccer style, I got up and started walking, knowing it would end a draw - so utterly predictable and Liam was lost in that decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,188 ✭✭✭thefa

You could argue alright they weren’t cute enough to see it out. On another day, the ref blows it when the puck out is taken.

I thought the fact the O’Donovan was left unmarked was the most frustrating part. The puck out gets broke and he was on the ground after contesting for it. Two passes later he’s free.

that's my take on it, a wide as good as a score in 99% of those situations, wouldn't blame Moylan at all.
