Shocking that there were only 5 city players om the under 14 squad of 40+ players. Thats 105,000 people giving 5 players.. shocking beyond belief.

They've given a few city players to Clare to help develop the game. Apparently, East Clare clubs are jealous of Ballyea poaching players so they're one-upping them.

You might thank us in a few years, Peggy.

Ballyea don't really poach anyone. Those are West Clare fellas. Parteen -Meelick do however need all the help they can get but then so do the likes of Claughaun ,Old Christians and Pats. There isn't a decent team with the 3 combined

What a match this evening between Patrickswell and Kilmallock. Best club game I've seen for a long time....some array of skills and scoretaking on show.

Win for Kilmallock 2-22 to 2-20. Byrnes missed a last minute penalty to draw it. Shane O'brien gave an exhibition in the second half and Lynch scored a super goal, placed it into the top corner after a run.

Sounds like a good match,Kilmallock are going well all year.O,'Brien will be a serious operator in the not too distant future

After this weekend’s games there’s a Lot of interesting fixtures in the last round of senior hurling .

Kilmallock v Na Piarsaigh could be a rehearsal for county final . Mungret & Ballybrown will decide who plays Senior top grade next year and Garryspillane v South Liberties in fixture is the relegation final.

Throw in Ahane v Doon as well for a quarter final spot.....Ahane might fancy their chances

Thing is though Kilmallock are already in a semi but NaP need to win to secure a semi and I can see that playing a big part in the result.

I think Kilmallock will have their sights for later on the comp, they're the form team at the moment although Na Piarsigh have so many options in the forward line, p'swell on their day are a threat especially if the 3 big men all fire on the same day.

South Liberties have been well beaten in all their games whereas the bouncers have shown a bit of fight and spirit, although down a few I think g'spillane can edge that one.

The various gradings make for great championships I must say, most teams have something on the line everyday they go out and most games are competitive...even more so if the mooted premier junior is brought in.

Hopefully the Junior is sorted for next year , 24 teams playing for one cup is too many teams with only one winner. Two 12's - Premier Junior & Junior would create a lot more competition and interest. In the likes of Soccer theres a cup for everyone with all sorts of competitions & Cups created. , in the Hurling theres clubs havent won a cup in decades.

The Junior will be interesting with Gearoid Hegartys St Pats & Cathal O Neills Crecora in the shake up .

Yes that was agreed last year. 2023 is the last year without a Premier Junior. It will exist next year.

Top 3 in each of the 4 groups minus the winner (who is jumping to Intermediate) and add the relegated team from Intermediate and that makes up Premier Junior for 2024. I assume Premier Junior will then be 2x Groups of 6

Be interesting to see how Shane Dowling goes as minor manager this year, I know he was involved at the lower age groups and had reasonably success with the team, how time moves on fast, the first of that 2018 breakthrough panel to come up the management ranks!

I heard that our first game next yr is away to clare is this true? Surely we're due a first game at home as we were away for our first games in last 2 yrs

I haven't seen anything about next year's fixtures being released yet. Google shows up nothing either.

Away in Ennis in first game is the toughest possible start not to mention trying to get a ticket for it . Another reason to renew season ticket or try get one if there’s any renewals not taken up in December.

The main thing is Limerick get out of Munster next year even if it’s only third place . As the season goes on and we get to Croke park Limerick seem harder to beat as Galway and Kilkenny found out this year .

Clare first is a good thing. Would rather get it out of the way than have to face a possible do or die up there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,868 ✭✭✭Quitelife

Big win for South Liberties last night over Garryspillane in relegation decider . The right night for South Liberties to score 7 goals !

When are the Wolfe Tones/IRA playing in the Gaelic Grounds? I think it's an abomination myself . Thick kids and wannabe provos from Patrickswell and Moyross in to tear up the town. How limerick GAA thought this was a good idea I will never know.

    It happened already.

The tailback coming in from Clare was huge.

Clare duo and Cork defender in running for Young Hurler of the Year award

I’m amazed that Cathal O Neill wasn’t nominated!!!

young Joyce had a great year and will be a worthy winner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,777 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Probably down to O'Neill not being a starter. Also much harder to shine on a team with a billion All Stars.

Hayes, Gillane and Byrnes for hurler of the year. I think Hayes was the only of those 3 that was brilliant all tournament even when Limerick didn't look great but I'm pretty certain Gillane will actually win it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,631 ✭✭✭moby2101

    Yeah, Gillane will win.

Kyle probably more deserving over the course of the year.

Diarmaid’s nomination is a strange choice as well, he certainly didn’t hit the heights of last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,777 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Recency bias as Byrnes had a great final. Personally I would have Nash ahead of him.

Morrissey deserved a nomination..Fantastic all league and in Munster . Hayes deserves the accolade but Gillane will get it. Hayes is probably going to retire as one of the greatest hurlers of all time.
