I'm just confused as to how Russel Brand is being accused of rape and the take away is that he's being controlled by Russia.

I never said he was a "victim of conspiracy theories".

Yet again this topic is more about the relish of some for seeing this man being accused because they dislike his opinions.

Actual empathy for his alleged victims is hard to come by, I've now replied to three posts in a row where it has been entirely absent.

Sorry,I'm no fan of brand but a lot of that was unnecessary waffle, the PA women had nothing to say only he liked to have sex with women, then was asked "do you think anything bad might have happened " "eh maybe "

And the other one that worked for him, who said she was shocked to see brand stand there with his lad out, there is no way she was that shocked, really, its Russel brand, she knew exactly who she was working for,

And that other women who gave out about Russel sleeping with audience members, "ooh they were over 18 alright but were under 21" so what, they went willingly and was all perfectly legal, then she gave out about him hurting their feelings afterwards by not calling them again, and all this with the ominous background music playing.

Where was these womens personal responsibility, the programme made a lot of them out to be just mindless zombies who had no control of themselves , because "Russel brand" made me do it,

He is and always was a creep and a womaniser, everyone knew it,and still women flocked to him, he had no shortage of "victims " throwing themselves at him.

If it turns out he did rape that first women then throw him in jail, but the rest of that programme was just talking about his sex life and that he was a dick to a lot of willing and consenting adults.

There's emails and texts going back to the time of the event where he responded and rape is directly referenced. One victim went to a rape crisis center and there's therapist files that go back to the time of the event where the rape is referenced. It's a lot more than you'll normally get with historical rape cases. On top of that, I'd suspect we're gonna see more victims come forward after the doc.

He's free to take legal action but it's pretty clear that channel 4 are confident it's watertight.

It's also somewhat disturbing the handful of people who are intent on downplaying this. The stories were pretty disturbing in general.

Just to be clear there's a distinct differece between calling out the "Russel Brand is controlled by Russia" insanity and defending his alleged actions.

The allegations need to be investigated properly and if he's guilty he deserves punishment.

The other stuff, which has formed the majority of the content of this thread, is utterly superfluous and every bit as wacky as his own opinions supposedly are.

But that's the world we live in, two factions of wacky crazies vying for the validation of acceptance of their opinions.

I didn't reference you at all... I already stated that I suspect he became political as a cover if any of these things came to light, he could claim cancellation and smearing.

The “really, this is Russell Brand” attitude is exactly what enabled him to hide in plain sight for so long.

    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

TBH , I’d prefer to see a complainant going to the police and a resultant police investigation followed by a criminal prosecution if it found a case to answer.

These sort of programmes never sit easy with me when there’s a legal system ready and willing to prosecute such behaviour- of course the complainant needs to be willing also.

But is a TV programme about such behaviour justice? It can be if done in conjunction with the legal system - not every alleged predator will form the subject of a 1.5 hour tv documentary.

We have known for years that this chap was an odious individual and would likely have accusations of sexual misconduct of some description levelled against him at some stage given his bragging through the years.

Since the likes of Saville died with his knighthood intact and a reverent public funeral, news media have evidently vowed that never again would a public figure remain protected if accusations of sexual abuse etc were levelled against them. But that’s a media vendetta - I don’t subscribe to justice via the media. The alleged victims need help and support in the first instance and maybe over time will have the courage to make a formal complaint- but trial by media may prove to be doing more harm than good to them.

Having a "cover" of that description isn't going to allow him to evade criminal investigation. It isn't a get out of jail free card.

That is a much a conspiracy theory as anything else on this thread.

I thought he was on Vladimir Putins payroll anyway.

It's less a conspiracy theory and more speculation over a guy who prided himself on being politically disinterested. It's not a get out of jail free card but he's got prominent people leaping to his defense and that's largely because of how he's positioned himself.

Anyway, I'll leave you off to get outraged....

    Spare me the moral grandstanding.

I'm not one bit outraged, I'm just confused that the main take away from most posters is that thinks a great situation because he's a conspiracy theorist controlled by Russia.

You have to see the irony in that.

I think you’re 100 percent on the money with this.

    Two things

Firstly, the tin foil hat market is very lucrative. If RB was not getting traditional work if his past was catching him up, this is a licence to print money.

Secondly, he may have realised he would be snookered by way of the normal legal channels, this is a perfect way to build an alternative defence.

The majority of the posts are discussing what he's accused of... Eg the post of mine that you responded to had nothing to do with Putin and was discussing the evidence they have.

Seems possible alright, there are rumours of NDAs being in place a while back, the investigation by times going since 2019 and his agents were made aware of allegations years ago, plus rumours for years before that. The sad thing is at least in the echo chamber that can be x/Twitter it has seemingly worked. I doubt many of those actually watched the programme, plenty of them defending him before horrendous details even released.

You do seem to be confused alright. Literally one poster suggested he's controlled by Russia. Not "most". One.

    Carry on digging though 👍🏻

    I'm not shutting down criticism.

If this looney is guilty he deserves punishment.

How he's being controlled by Russia and how that is being widely accepted is puzzling to me though.

Is used the word baroque in a stated reference to Russel Brand's own words, it is wasn't hidden in any way shape or form.

That post received multiple thanks and several supportive replies.

Do you think it's credible that Russia are using washed up comedy actors to destabilise liberal democracy? Or is that an insane conspiracy theory?

You can be sure the stories of rape are true. No way would dispatchers or c4 run this otherwise.

As ive said it'll be the american system Russ needs to worry about. If they pursue him he will spend 20-30 years in the slammer.

Good riddance. A horrible person. No loss.

I don't think it is "widely accepted", I think one poster has said it. So maybe bring it up with them rather than trying to derail the thread.

So none of the alleged victims have gone to the police but have spoken to journalists instead? Enough said

So you've gone from most posts in the thread being about Putin controlling him to discussing the number of thanks on a post. You're pretty much the most guilty poster of not discussing the actual topic...

This has been years in the making. You don't go after a litigious f*cker like Brand in a country where the law favours people like Brand without being sure of what you have. Fair play to Channel 4 for doing this even though they worked with him a fair bit.

True but this was always going to be the case anyway.

While your tweet was loading, I thought you meant conspiracy theories and lawbreaker Darren Grimes.

I do find it slightly disturbing the amount of prominent edgelords that have leaped to his defence. Cause Musk in particular has public influence. Thinking back, it's basically like a more extreme version of Spiked leaping to defend Savile. Basically the cancel culture claims just has a much louder defence.

I don't disagree but it's entirely predictable, I could literally have listed who would jump to his defence (even before the details were out) and be pretty spot on. X/Twitter can be a bit of an echo chamber of tossers (including bots and useful idiots) I am not sure it accurately represents the general publics opinion.
