I think it has been widely accepted that the Kenny reign is coming to an end so it's time to look forward to the future with some optimism. A good manager could change our fortunes so let's see who we can get. I'd be interested in people having some left field suggestions, maybe a manager not many have heard about. I'm just going to quote the current betting odds to get the ball rolling:

    • 2/1 Steve Bruce
    • 9/2 Lee Carsley
    • 9/1 Neil Lennon
    • 9/1 Chris Hughton
    • 9/1 Anthony Barry
    • 9/1 Kieran McKenna
    • 10/1 Roy Keane
    • 11/1 Sam Allardyce

There are some really good options on that list but are they attainable? Lee Carsley won the Euro u21 championships, a great achievement, would he be interested?

Anthony Barry is a highly respected coach, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Belgium and Portugal have signed him up. He knows our squad and made a big difference when he was out coach. Again, would he be interested?

Kieran McKenna is building a good reputation in England. Plays an exciting style, he's Irish but is club football his focus for now?

That's 3 highly credible candidates. Others on the list have merits also. There are others like Benitez, Wenger who would be interesting. Are there any suggestions for any other managers out there? Can you make a case for your manager of choice. If we could get a good, lengthy shortlist we can start a poll.

if Bruce became manager I'd give up entirely , you'd want someone who'd manage a young group of players - don't think McKenna would come , but someone like him - not a Bruce or Big Sam

Bruce wouldn't be the most inspiring but in fairness, he has managed numerous premier league clubs, with mixed success.

I'd agree though, someone like McKenna would be preferable. Are there any young managers in other European countries who would fit the bill? Young Spanish, Dutch or German coaches?

What about Willie Sagnol? Had a great playing career at Bayern Munich and France. Has been a coach with France u21's and Bordeaux. Worked under Anceloti at Bayern Munich and is the current Georgia manager. They had an awful defeat against Spain recently but they won their League C Nation's League group, well ahead of Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Gibraltar. 5 wins and a draw. Could be worth a look?

Mod: Nope, not going to be having a thread on this as there is a manager in charge currently.
