24 kWh, so don't expect a large range. But it would be a good car for specific use cases. Coast to coast at high speeds would not be one of its core competencies.

What price would you go to for this ioniq? Car | Wilsons Auctions

8-9k is probably the trade value on that ioniq. Dont go over 10k imo or you may aswell buy not at auction when you include the fees.

Do you need the car, is it an investment. Mileage is shown in miles not km.

You probably want to stop at 7k euro if you want a bargain. Factor in fees, no test drive before buying.

The main risk with auctions is people use them to sell faulty / lemon cars, not that an ioniq gives much trouble but worst case may be motor/gearbox/reduction box noise indicating it's on its way out. A dodgy seller might put such a car into an auction.

Yeah, was kickin the tyres of it alright, was thinking 8K at most. Unfortunately have a couple of sizeable payouts looming in house maintenance very soon, so will have to hold onto the Leaf 24 for another while.

50% depreciation in 4 years and 100k Km

Back to the good old days

Of course, in that 100,000km of motoring, the owner will have saved about 11k worth of fuel compared to the same car with a petrol or Diesel (charging at 30c per kw) or 12.5k (charging at night rate), so the actual cost of ownership over the 4 years is about 6-7k plus interest on the car loan

    ...

Anyone who bought the petrol or diesel version of the Kona in 2019 will have suffered exactly the same depreciation (if not more) , but also had the joy of paying 11-12k more in fuel and more on servicing in that same length of time

That vehicle is Ex Fleet, so company also saved on capital depreciation. I have seen car personally, good condition, same vehicle would be retailing at dealership for a few thousands more after a good clean. Guess if you mentioned Post on Boards seller will do discount 😉.

Going to call about this too, does anyone know what the situation is with getting a tow bar fitted ( https://www.mvg-ahk.de/en/Towbars-mvg/HYUNDAI/Kona/mvg-mvg-1/Set-comprising-detachable-towbar-and-vehicle-specific-electrical-kit.html?force_sid=ih5jfnem4gb2cbbhm7si2skeq8 ) . Is your insurance voided if there is no rated towing capacity ? ( Things like bringing the mower in for a service etc )

Yes you are not insured, not legal, if towing using a car not rated to tow here.

Even fitting a tow bar may trigger warranty issues with dealer although you can sometimes get bike rack only tow bars.

If you drop down seats and fold lawnmower push handles you may get it in closed rear of car.

I recently bought a similar E Niro for very similar money, but I was not pointing out the bargain on this thread!.

Not meaning for us all to get our calculators out for a duel, but would it really be 11k savings?

In our house, the diesel costs about 9.5cent/km and 2.5cent/km for the EV home-charging only.

    thats €9,500 versus €2500 for 100,000km, a saving of €7k. E&OE

    I just did a few calculations based on a a L/100km of about 7.5 at 1.8 euros a litre

8.2kW/100km seems very optimistic. What are you driving to do that? 30c/unit day rate is pretty good too.. Doesn't matter because you'd presumably aim to charge at night anyway.

But even at 20kW/100km, there are significant savings here because you're measuring over 100000km. Is that a multi-year saving?

I see now. It's over 4 years - and for a lot of that the electricity/fuel rates were lower than now.

Pretty heavy consumption for a diesel, 5 would be realistic IMO, I honestly cannot say what a 1ltr petrol kona would do per 100km, but I know your unlikely to drive one if your doing 33000km per year,

8.2 kw per 100 km? Hardly? more like 18 kwh

You need to factor in purchase price, in 2019, from memory 1 litre petrol was 22000, diesel 26000 and the ev 40000, which at the time seemed unjustifiable.

I am not going to work out the maths, but its down to the amount of km you do V depreciation V purchase price.

In such a scenario the petrol or diesel would work out better for me (12000km a year), the diesel would only cost me 1000 (5l/100km @ 1.80) in fuel for a year, but I would suffer clogged dpfs, so the petrol version with more costly fuel bill per year and a cheaper purchase price,

    6.5L/100km ICE, 190w/KM for EV

I have my 1.6D for several years, lots of short, some medium and occasional long journey. Its 6.5L/100km, and does not drift too far up or down from that. My general excel entry for EV is 190w/KM. It might be slightly less, but what's the point in an EV if you don't occasionally blast the accelerator :-), and they do not perform well at motorway speeds (neither does ICE, but EV feels like efficiency drifts from optimum by a greater degree at higher speeds)

    😎

I got the 8.2kw per 100km from some website that listed tgat as the real world efficiency of this model and the 30c is my current unit rate for 24 hour electricity. All just indicitive. I'm sure in the real world the savings would be different

I've just realised that the sale price for the Ice kona would have been much lower so that needs to be factored in the savings

Hyundai Kona Kauai Comfort 5DR Finance Available for sale in Co. Dublin for €15,499 on DoneDeal

Cheapest Kona petrol with circa 100km. This cost maybe 22k new so looking at 7k depreciation. The 64kW Kona cost 38k new so looking at 19k depreciation. Fuel savings significant depending on where it was charged but petrol wouldnt have cost 11k so more like 8k savings. Overall its a win for the petrol. Think the saving here will go to the next owner- buying the EV is much better car/ value than that petrol for small cash extra

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,943 ✭✭✭djan

Nail on the head there, it takes quite a long time to make up the savings on the price difference of EV vs ICE which is often ignored when doing the calculations. While the next owners won't have to deal with the large depreciation, I assume it will be bigger than ICE once the battery begins to degrade substantially over the course of 10-15 years.

Not sure if this has been posted already and I am not sure if you would call it a bargain but this is the first Model 3 I have seen posted at less than 30k
