Sowing yellow rattle after wildflower seeds

Hi all, I sowed some wildflower seeds in mid summer in an area the size of average room. After a few months, nothing really has happened. I was told grass had taken over and I need to plant yellow rattle.

My question is, if I prepare the soil will I not kill off all the wildflowers to plant the rattle? Or should I just prepare a few strips within the zone and sow the rattle there?

Any thoughts appreciated

What was the seed mix? Many cheap imports are not worth the hassle, best to go with native widlfowers and prepare the ground properly. Here is some good read:
