Young Farmers Complementary Income Support Question

Hi

Does anyone know the answer to this.

My brother done the Green Cert in 2018 and joined my father's herd number, and claimed Young Farmers Complementary Income Support payment. This year will be his 4th payment. Its been decided that I will be in fact taking over the majority of the holding, taking over the Herd number and continuing on the enterprise.

Will I be able to claim the Young Farmers Complementary Income Support payment or will because my brother claimed it mean I can't? It'd be worth a bit of money every year that'd help me find my feet.

My father's asked his advisor but he can't get a straight answer 🙄

Yes you will, it is not based on a herd number but on an individual person. So a herd number could have two or three young farmers.

But they wouldn’t all get paid on the same hectare on the same herd no?

Is there a chance they would look to reclaim payment from the lad not progressing with it?

No, no chance of that. He took that as his own money, didn't put it into the farm which I would be planning to do.

Can you claim the young farmer top up for 5 years and then add another young farmer to a herd number after 5 years and claim young farmer top up again?
