Long time lurker on this thread! Myself and 2 others won’t be getting there until 5pm tomorrow. What campsite would be the quietest? We 30ish and just want some quiet to throw up 2 2man tents if we can find space?

Not much muck at all. Eco full to the brim and toilets out of toilet paper here too.

Anyone know what stage and time Imperial Sound Army are at? Cannot find them at all.

rte covered in previous years, apparently at a massive cost, they set up a crowes nest stage, lots of crew. The result was fairly poor, usually just main stage condensed into a 1 hour show

Didn’t have toilet roll to start with. It’s pretty full now, guy was saying a handful of 2 man tent spaces near the yoga tent. Some larger spaces near the noise!!

For those who haven’t packed yet, take sun cream!

If there’s any rain this afternoon looks like it will be the last of it for the weekend so enjoy everyone

Because it has in previous years.

    Why wouldn’t it be??

    Some years were on tv.

RTÉ 2 was the best bet. I think tv3 covered it one year???

Because there's little need or demand for it. There was pathetic/embarrassing snippets of coverage for a couple of years, nice idea but they shouldn't have bothered. To do it properly requires massive cost. Unlike Glastonbury, most people who want to go to EP go to EP, and for Glastonbury the BBC have an exclusive deal and do an amazing job on broadcasting the larger Glastonbury stages.

In saying all that, I wouldn't be surprised if greedy FR explored a deal to broadcast it at some future time. But then again, I'm not sure the numbers viewing it would be anything approaching a pay-off in terms of what it would cost.

    They self announced last night.

    Screenshot_2023-09-01-15-26-57-740_com.android.chrome-edit.jpg

Beer prices at Croí bar this year. Last year Lagunitas was the best value. At the same price this year with everything else increased it's even better value. The three stouts in Stradbally Inn are €7.

Yeah fair point two of the headliners for Kalorama and Cala Mijas played EP the festival before last; Strokes and Florence and the Machine, which may have been a consideration when booking.

I'm not sure saying that a band having already played an Irish show couldn't have been booked for EP as surely EP could have been the Irish show! Also I think the argument bands aren't available in late August falls a little flat given the lineup of Kalorama and Cala Mijas this weekend.

I imagine at the end of the day Festival Republic had the option to book a lot of these acts but didn't for whatever reason. Maybe some of them don't fit in with the demographic they are aiming at these days or they just don't need to book these acts with the festival selling out regardless. Still it would have been nice to get some more international acts at the festival besides the Coronas playing two picnics in a row!

Don't mean to be having a moan at this late stage, there are some cool acts playing this year just seems it could have been better with the availability of bands not really being an excuse, especially with the lineup for the other festivals happening this weekend!

Fantastic, I never thought I'd be celebrating the fact Lagunitas is 7.90. But again seems to be the USA/Import/EU higher 6.2 percentage version so actually not too bad value in one way.

6.2%, eh? Will be on that later!

Meanwhile I am trying the Murphy's in Stradbally Inn. Creaminess.

Does anybody know why fold up camping tables are no longer allowed? We've had one every year but had to bring it back to the car this time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,617 ✭✭✭Fanirish

exactly. Cost prohibiting and RTE could never negotiate footage licence from bands that people actually care about.

likes of artics monkeys etc not letting rte film and use performance footage.

it’s a given for Glastonbury with very strict terms on how many songs, how many can go on YouTube and how long on iplayer.

for Coachella it’s seen as marketing exercise for the festival and appetiser for new summer tours

Bit of a personal horror. Family camping but was redirected by Garda to red parking.

Over packed and had to lug everything what felt like 3km. Had an angel called Colm who I believe has a wife called Nuala help carry my stuff and navigate through joplin Hendrix and the lake swimming area to eventually get to kids camping.

Broken but in repair with Alcohol.
