Induction Hob Problem

I've just bought a second hand Beko induction hob, seen working prior to purchase. I've connected it correctly at home (black/brown to live, blue/grey to neutral , earth to earth) . When I switch on power, the control images on the hob light up for a couple of seconds then go out. Switch off mains, leave it a few seconds, switch on, same thing happens etc etc. Any thoughts on wht I'm doing wrong?

It's probably a three-phase capable unit anyway, but you just need to wire-up a single phase, no?

Not sure now

I assumed you changed the flex connections for 1P/3P but that would overload the N. You'd need the internal links for that setup

I think the OP has no manual as it's second-hand, so he'd need to enter the model into the Beko site and get the manual. But you might be right about the missing N link.

He has it wired correctly , I googled those types

I jumped in thinking it was 1P /3P

So the local electrician called this morning and placed a finger on the 'on' circle on the hob for a couple of seconds. Bingo! Power on, everything working.

He (patiently) explained that I need to hold my finger on the 'on' circle until the power lights up....not just touch it as I'd been doing. Morto! Thanks for the replies, but let's never talk of this again? 🤭

Was gonna post that last night but thought no, surely not that simple! Watch when cleaning it as well if it's still turned on at the switch, they can go mental if you touch a lot of buttons at the same time. The same if you put a pot on the controls by mistake all sorts of errors can show up to freak you out! On my one anyway.
