Dreadful news. Such a young man. RIP.

I remember the Patriots drafting him. I saw loads of him playing for Arkansas and he looked really good for them. I thought he would be a mid to late first round pick.

Things never really worked out for him in the NFL but I always felt if he was put in a west coast offense he could have been really good.

Isn't Croker desperate for the college games though, compared to the Aviva.

Re other European destinations, I reckon Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will get an NFL game in the 2024 regular season. Think that was a big factor in the re-design of the stadium.

Same amount of new guaranteed money as Jackson. What is he paying his agent for?

Joe Burrow carted off at practice after injuring his leg after no contact. Hopefully it's not serious but doesn't look good

Seems to be calf injury for Burrow further scans required but signs pointing so far nothing overly serious though pre-season and maybe start of the season are a doubt

I hope he makes it for the start of the season.

Kelly green is officially back for the eagles this season. Love it.

What can agents get, no more than 3%? Works out at about $8 million for their contracts.

Jackson & Mama Jackson definitely have their heads screwed on.

24 pre-season wins in a row for the Ravens.

    Haven't lost a pre-season game since 2016.

I knew we had a good pre-season record but never took much notice of just how good it has been.

Alex Collins former Seahawks and Ravens running back has died at 28 in a motorcycle accident RIP

A 5th round pick of the Seahawks he become the Ravens starter in 2018 and 2019

He was known for his Irish dancing TD celebrations having learned it from the daughter of his high school coach

During his career he came to Dublin and did some Irish dancing lessons in a dance studio. Very wholesome ☺️

Sorry to hear that, I remember the videos doing the rounds alright, and he always struck me as a very positive player who looked like he really loved being on the field.

F*ck, rotten news regarding Budda. The reason he left the Ravens was because of a car crash.

Loved watching him. I remember him being more exciting in 2017-18 season but was exceptionally efficient the following season until he fucked up his foot.

    I shouldn't have typed a word.

29-28 loss but Zay Flowers with a TD and 6'6 25 year old undrafted tight end Vokolek with two TDs (unfortunately probably no roster spot).

Undrafted RB Keaton Mitchell looked like he has something about him. Rushed once for 31 yards (got injured and that play) and had a 28 yard punt return.

    It's pre-season, don't be taking those hits.

A preseason win records pointless. Your better off getting rid of it rather than any chance of playing starters needlessly for a meaningless win.

Sam Darnold gets the backup job in San Fran. I'm not surprised, I'd imagine they'll be shopping Lance now. Bears might be interested in him as a backup.

I don't see that happening but the Vikings make sense with Cousins possibly leaving next year. I don't even know what value he has. 3rd or 4th rounder?

That pick was such a massive gamble. Playing where he played and how little he actually played through college I thought he was a day 2 pick, but the Niners became obsessed with him and gave up 3 first rounders to get him. Obviously if it worked out nobody cares as any team would trade 3 firsts for a franchise QB, but for various reasons (injuries, inexperience) it has failed spectacularly. At 23 and only a handful of games played it is far too soon to write him off, but he's just lost a camp battle to Sam Darnold so the signs aren't great. If it doesn't work out for him on his next team he'll have to go down as the biggest draft bust of the rookie salary cap era.

They've been shopping him all offseason. The timeline to get Lance reps just doesn't align to their window now that hit on a cheap option like Purdy. His injuries over his first two seasons were so unfortunate, especially last year when they'd signed up for growing pains with him.

Don't see them moving him for pennies though and no chance they release him, even though it would be the best thing for Lance. Given the cap impact and the injury record with Kyle's QBs, Lance has more value to them as QB3 then a late round pick this season. It will likely be the same scenario as Jimmy last offseason.

Yeah, for sure it's not going to hurt them cap-wise to hold onto him.

I'd imagine he wants out now though. You don't want somebody whose not happy in the locker room.

If he gets to a team that has a running QB there's a big chance he gets time on the field. He's just not a good enough passer to make it in my opinion.

No chance he goes to an NFC West team. If they want rid of him it's likely they'd prefer an AFC team take him. I'd imagine they'd let him go cheaper to an AFC team.

I can't see anyone parting with anything more than a fifth round pick for him unless some coach thinks he can make something of him in which case it might go as high as a third.

I think SF would only move him via a trade, $10m cap hit if he is released. I'd say and 5th round pick would get it done to be honest. I'd be happy enough for him to stay as we saw last year the 49ers tend to go through a few QB's each year, but for his own sake he needs to be somewhere that can offer him either a shot at starting or at the very least the QB2 role.

From all the sources I've heard that isn't an accurate timeline for how they ended up moving up. The move up when they did is by far my biggest issue with the whole scenario.

When they moved it wasn't for Lance. They'd scouted a few of the QBs at a high level and were happy to move up and take at least 2 of the likely ones available at that stage (seems to be Jones and Lance). At that stage, especially coming out of a COVID year, there is no way they had enough information to make such a costly move, nor the intel on when players would likely to be picked to know how far they'd need to move up.

If they liked so many QBs it was a much easier scenario to let them fall on the day and see who got to their pick or they could have made a cheaper move up a fewer spots. It wasn't as if they were screwed without a QB if they got jumped - they still had Jimmy who had just guided them to an NFC championship game and they were willing to keep him on the roster despite his cost even when a player was drafted.

Once they made the move I still have no problem with the decision they made to take a big swing, even knowing how it played out. If you're giving up that much to move to 3 you want superstar potential, which to me was either Lance or Fields and not Jones. While still having been fine if they'd stayed at 12 and taken Jones then, as he is a solid player that fits Kyles system, like Purdy who we found with the last pick of the draft.

Isaiah Simmons is being traded from the Cardinals to the NY Giants for a seventh-round pick in 2024.

Worth the punt by the Giants for Simmons who never lived up to the athletic hype in the desert.

Lance traded to the Cowboys overnight for a 4th round pick.

Looks like Daniel Whelan is going to win the punting job at Green Bay after veteran Pat O'Donnell was waived today.

Would become the first Irish player in the NFL since Neil O'Donoghue in the late 70's and early 80's.

Whelan is from Enniskerry in Wicklow and moved 10 years ago with his family to California when he was 13.
