Cheapest 85" TV with local dimming

Happy to take an older model, boosting a cinema from from 60" to 85" and I've been recommended to ensure that it has proper local dimming to ensure a good experience with HDR content.

I could live without it, most of my viewing is via Xbox and I can turn HDR off at the source. But better to be able to enjoy the content if possible.

If I'm not needing that feature then I can find plenty around the €1,200 mark, but the cheapest thing I've found with local dimming is the TCL 85c845 which I can pick up north of the border for £2k sterling.

That's more than I want to spend though, was hoping to stay below £1,500/€1,750.

There's one Sony 85" TV that's available to us that would fit the bill but it's an in store collection only item and would need collected from our Belfast store. We can't deliver it I'm afraid. It's a Full Array, local diming panel, 4K and Dolby Vision. It also has a native 100Hz panel so it's great for motion but it doesn't have VRR at 120Hz for gaming:

I'll hold off for now. Black Friday, Prime Day etc rolling around in the next few months so I'll see if prices come down on other models.

The Sony doesn't seem to be as good as the TCL 85c845, and only £400 cheaper.

Any other suggestions a bit over my budget that I can keep an eye out for in the sales?

Unfortunately we won't know what will be in the sales until the night before so I'm not sure what would be available at that time.

The best thing to do though is keep an eye on the website as the prices change quite quickly.

We don't have any of the 85" TCLs at all I'm afraid!

I know you won't know in advance what's going on sale, but what I mean is could you recommend some good models that are around the €2-2.5k mark now so that I have a few options to watch for?

The TCL 85 isn't currently in my range, but I've identified it as a fit IF the price drops.

Again it's hard to know what will be available at the time. The model above the one I had mentioned previously, the Sony KD85X80LU is the current Sony 85" so might be worth keeping an eye on - it's currently 2199 euro:

It looks like the 85X80LU is listed as "frame dimming". The 85X80LU is full array.

It seems that the 85X90KU which is priced at 2999€ has Full Array Local Dimming.

As this has been replaced by the 2023 version stock is mega tight on these.

The NEW 2023 version is the 85X90LPU coming in at 3849€

The 85x90H is an older model and due to its crazy pricing it is an instore only collection and can not be shipped.

It is part of our "inflation Bursting Mega Deals" but these deals need collected from us here at the Belfast store. Comes with a 3 year warrant instead of our VIP 6 year guarantee.

You will notice that there is no way to make the purchase via our website unfortunately.

The 85X90H is from the Professional Display range but still works 100% just as a normal television would. It has both Soarview and a satellite input. It's smart and has all the same tech as a normal Sony television..

Currys have a 10 day wait for stock, plus a £20 delivery charge as I'd need to get it from store to home and safe to say it won't fit in the boot.

If you can get it in cheaper, sooner, longer warranty or a combination of the above then I could be persuaded.
